    Card/Deck The Azorius Senate (WU)

But think of how fun it is to play with...just quickly polled my roommate-drafters and they agree that Plow Under's a blast.

    Card/Deck The Azorius Senate (WU)

I have a little bit of a different opinion on Narset Transcendent--if you ask me, the best use is Time Warp, and she fits great in an archetype that likes to double spells. Plow Under and other large effects work very well doubled, and Narset usually doesn't have a terribly hard time drawing an...

    General The Draft Exchange

He says he's been well, just busy with his research. He's also embroiled in a lawsuit with WotC regarding Unstable promotional materials that bear a striking resemblance to his own ravings...he just wants a cut of their crazy excess revenue.

    General The Draft Exchange

I present the rare in-person draft exchange, a product of the wacky environment of my good friend the Mad Prophet. I started out looking to be some sort of big blue deck, but I came to realize I could play some sort of a Turbo Xerox shenanigan with a mere fourteen lands. Deal Broker did some...

    General Three-Player Formats

You could do what my friends and I do. We play almost exclusively with three players and have determined a couple foolproof methods to keep the third player entertained: 1) Third, bored player gets stoned and makes, then eats food 2) Only draft, never actually play Magic

    Sets Amonkhet (AKH) Spoilers

Also, they could of course be redone, but as templated the pain lands don't work as fetchable lands. The basic land types imply the ability to tap for mana, pain-free. With basic land types they'd be ABUR duals that tap for colorless and enable Death's Shadow

    Card/Deck Dusk / Dawn

Yeah I'm not saying it's quite so mechanically similar to Unburial Rites as that, just that it mirrors Rites' tendency to be excellent support for graveyard strategies by being both the peanut butter and the jelly, so to speak.
  10. StormEntity

    Card/Deck Dusk / Dawn

It's also worth noting that this card double-supports the graveyard theme, much like Unburial Rites does, by being castable from the graveyard and also interacting with the graveyard. The important difference here is that while Rites only gets back one thing, this gets back lots of things, so it...

    Card/Deck Dusk / Dawn

I've already for quite some time been partial to power-2-or-less, and I'm thrilled to see WotC continue to support the theme of small creatures using the exact same condition rather than branching out and counting toughness or CMC or using different numbers for "small" power, so kudos to them...

Ha! I wish. From the WotC article introducing the cube:

    General Fight Club

Demonic Rising to me seems like by far the most powerful and the most interesting of the three. The question remains for me whether it's powerful enough, or too powerful. It's certainly interesting enough, but the power question really depends on your environment. I will say that all of these...

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

No ETB creatures, no removal at all that isn't on a creature. Just activated ability grindfests for days.
  15. StormEntity

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

Even if you went full Volcanic Hammer though, I can't see this card being playable. Even if your opponent has to untap before they kill it, the mana advantage gained is pretty bonkers especially when the Volcanic Hammer deck is aggressive.
  16. StormEntity

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

As a point of comparison, how do people feel about this card? Curse of Death's Hold The 4/4 body is nice, but it's also a vulnerability, but there's that protection, but unless their creatures are (largely) one toughness they can just clear the Crovax with a removal spell and go back to...
  17. StormEntity

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

The problem case here is eats removal, which I often hear bandied about but is truly an awful outcome when you spend four mana on a creature. If this thing eats a Shock or Burst Lightning or whatever you've been blown right on out. I actually can hardly imagine a format where the removal is such...

    General Drafting with 4 players

If I could ever get my drafters to agree to a Rochester draft method I'd be all over it. In fact I think I'm going to pitch it harder next time, I really appreciate the open information aspect. Only problem is it reduces parallel processing potential, which almost necessarily makes the draft...

    General Drafting with 4 players

I much prefer a randomly chosen card over a hate drafted card (at least in theory; I haven't tried the hate draft method). 4 man drafts are extremely prone to the problem of not getting enough good cards for the players to build decks of appropriate (IMO) power level to the cube, and randomizing...

    General Drafting with 4 players

My group does something very similar except: take the three "extra" packs and put them in a separate pile to your right. That pile of packs "belongs" to a bot, a fictional player who just takes a random card from each pack. Then, for your first pick of each pack, you just select a card as...
