I feel like the primary mode of this card is Cycling.

I don't mind control getting some locks. If they survive that long, power to them.

yes i am a big fan of this kind of thing being a win-con. the misery and suffering of the locked-out person is greatly exceeded by everyone else's schadenfreude

i wasn't joking, this is the kind of situation that will get people saying "hahah hey come over here look what i've done to CML"

what friends are for right

It's like when I would play control and mill people out with Nephalia Drownyard. Can't quite scoop yet but you've still already pretty much lost.

Edit: I want to build an artifact cube and do similar things with these:

I have a weird fascination with locks. It's hard to find ones that feel sufficiently powerful without being "feel bad" powerful. In a way early version of my cube, I opened one game with Turn 1 Bitterblossom, Turn 2 Smokestack. I was marginally delighted but I don't think my opponent was terribly thrilled with the exchange.

Just read through this whole thread and found it incredibly thought-provoking. My artifact support is subpar at best and I'd love to get some more mileage out of Tinker and Goblin Welder.

would thopter foundry be interesting/fun/good enough to run without its best friend?
Doesn't seem like anyone answered this yet, but on paper I think that's a definite YES. Without the Sword coming back every time, it's just a brown sac outlet with a weird casting cost. Seems plenty fair to me.

So I watched Niki draft and play what looked like a really sweet U/B Tezzeret deck last week in Jason's inaugural online draft, replete with utility pile-supplied artifact lands, and I immediately pledged to try it out in my own cube.

What's a good, non-obnoxious finisher for Tezz to dig for? I'm thinking Batterskull or Wurmcoil Engine are a little bit too annoying and repetitive for my tastes. Are any of these worthwhile? Anyone got some other ideas?

Of those, I currently run Battlesphere and Titan, and I recently cut Hellkite for Triskelion. I would say all of them are reasonable includes. Staff of Nin is intriguing, but probably only against non-aggro decks. Obelisk seems like a Trading Post that requires actual colored mana. Mindslaver seems grief-y.

Whoever mentioned Prophetic Prism as an alternative to Signets...thanks for the suggestion. I was thinking about Chromatic Sphere, Chromatic Star, or Mirrodin talismans as other alternatives.

staff of nin is good against aggro too, it powers up any -x/-x and burn spells as removal, and it keeps them from playing X/1s at all. makes you be able to trade in combat too.

Some X/1's don't care.
