Well, not against Martyr of Sands.dek!
Great analysis Brad! Really loved that period of MtG, I feel like Kamigawa, Ravnica, Time Spiral and Lorwyn are between the best blocks ever
+1 for
Decisive Denial
Very strong card, but never too powerful. If you want to be fancy, there is also Snakeform. I also liked a lot Incubation // Incongruity in RNA limited. Temporal Spring is one of my favourite cards, but maybe in 2025 it is too slow...
Well, technically the kind of counters is the same (time counter) but vanishing sacrifices when the last is removed while fading sacrifices when you cannot remove anymore (so fading N is kinda like vanishing N+1)
EDIT: no, I am bad, fading uses "fade" counters that are different from time...
Yes yes, I agree with this. This is also bothering me, and I would like to have a Lorwyn set without any other distractions. But that's why we have Cube, right? One could make a Lorwyn thematic cube cutting all of the cards with random people :D
Is is really different from having some random human or cat planeswalkers the first time we went to Lorwyn? Not that I liked it eh, I pretty despise planeswalker and "lore contamination" of this kind in general
Just a quick comment: I wouldn't consider Lotus Cobra as a 2-drop dork, because of the following reasons. All other 2-drop dorks work very badly if played after a turn 1 Llanowar Elves. The Lotus Cobra, instead, feels more right when played before a land drop (if it is a fetchland, bonus points)...
Yes, colourpie-wise it feels a lot more like a {W/U} card, at the end of the day is literally a mashup of Thraben Inspector and Eyekite. But the theme "drawn two or more cards" in this set is in the {U/B} combination so I get why it is like this. But I agree it feels slightly off.
This is SO difficult. But SO very difficult. So, let's try! I am writing these in a row, so I started writing #5 before knowing what I would put at #1. I feel it is more fun this way, like: I start from one of my favourite cards ever, and THEN I look for something even better!
I think they mainly don't want too many different counters in commons and uncommons because "normal people" use dice to mean both +1/+1 counters and -1/-1 counters, so it's hard to distinguish them if both types are present. But on a random mythic card it's fine (or again, on a common that...
