Ok. That's what I figured. Which is good because it means my intuitive logic is on the right track. I saw a lot of the Elf cards in ECL and it seemed clear that every draft would have 2-3 people forcing Elves after a BG first pick uncommon bomb. I suspect that making the payoffs monocolored...

Once you have the over the top 6+ drop, any synergy gets exciting because the base card is already so cool. All you had to do was add trample because you had a 10000/7. As another example, annihilator is awesome and it's even awesomer if you give the dude haste, which is a low bar. Can...

Anyone here draft much BLB or ECL? What went right or wrong for tribal kindred from the drafting perspective? I've drafted neither, but heard complaints that ECL was too on rails. A lot of you probably know that Onslaught is my third favorite thing in this game (behind Timmy bombs and...

Card/Deck Broken cards for lower power

I think that's a really cold take? GTM already referred to it as adding 6 lands to the deck.

Field means that the deck doesn't need to have any real way to win unless there's land destruction to check it. I think Mox is fine as long as it's taking a few turns to go live. Mox Jasper is "only" $10 despite being a mox for one of the most popular creature types because it's either a little...

Not loving what domain/converge/vivid brings. The power level on the cards with those keywords is super variable and it feels like a bit of a distraction to run it singleton. Speaking of singleton, I dislike the vibe of heavy multiples and will be allowing 2x Eldrazi cards as non singles for...

As much as I dislike adding new tokens to the box, these ones have clear upside to existing tokens as well as being safe designs because they're so similar to what we already have. Does Pact of the Undying provide significant upside to existing cards of that variety? I feel like those effects...

Cards like Snapcaster and tutors are only as good as what they can target, so those tend to be fine. Does anyone else think Academy is fine? My format wants a lot of mana, but I don't think I want a lot of mana on turn 3 or whatever.

I hate the double cleave because it's a lot harder to read. For me, at least. Love that you're going for a cycle on these. They're pretty cool. Maybe choose a matching "rarity" to make them all the sameish power level?

I'm not convinced that it would blow up multiple things in a turn that often. Hand should be pretty low by then. But that's a good point that it's like Karn with a free -3 and draw a card and gain 3 life... Fine. I'll skip this one even though it's cool as hell.

I'm likely running fetches and it shoots Spawns all the time. Probably a little too much for an already crowded Gruul section. Thanks for the analysis, Erik. Added a few that I had overlooked.
