I would change it to the one that is more interesting for your cube, which to me definitely involves more tie ins, not less.

Its like a razors edge where it's even interesting. Its really hard to find a power level where making another rat isn't the best thing you can do with a given card you draw, or just not even worth it.

This lad I'm less sold on because of the comparison to Skyknight Squire, who I found fine to bad. Like you never want to draw your 2 drop late but you really don't want to draw these two drops late.

Almost certainly. Cheap player hitting burn feels real bad a ways to lose go, and only gets more and more powerful as power goes up. Like imagine fireblast today

Genuinely surprised this isn't from the commander decks I've seen a lot of people mentioning this card, and in general I'd recommend against this over flame slash. I think enough of y'all that you don't want worse AND more complicated.

I like where your head's at, but I'd need colored border double sided sleeves to switch :P I really like having all the white tokens be in white sleeves, all the blue tokens in blue sleeves, etc (Artifact creature tokens are in brown, noncreature in silver)
