i was considering adding something like that actually, for the same reason! i ultimately decided against it, since my assumption was that this 1 drop cube would be just slow enough to have it be effective (and also partly for aesthetic reasons, ngl :p )

You could potentially also make it recast itself every few turns like Venture Forth? It feels on flavor for the card, and it might then also be a viable engine for spellslinger cards like Thing in the Ice and Petalskimmer?

Would changing Malakir Rebirth (or any of the other Zendikar MDFCs) to have 'Swampcycling {1}' instead make it significantly more powerful? It seems like a simple way to make them single sided, and the 1-mana land cyclers from LOR have been very popular.
