This set will mostly come down to art for me like TMNT. If it's too in your face then I'm out regardless of mechanics and gameplay, but if it's more subtle then I'll be more open to it. Rat King, Verminister is kind of the platonic ideal of a UB inclusion; a card that feels like it could exist...

Set code: FRA (and Commander is [currently unknown]) Release date: October 2, 2026 My most anticipated set of the year, looks like it will likely be a Planar Chaos-like variant. We've gotten some rumors and leaks recently and this looks like a real card: A red variant of Snapcaster Mage...

The Tango Lands are my favorite cycle after Shocks and Surveils gameplay wise. They're perfect fixing for their respective two-color decks, promote better sequencing decisions (either playing tapped early for fixing options or two basics for untapped entry on T3), and are obviously fetchable...

    GBS

Yeah, I'm holding back on a few bigger posts/cube recaps I've got drafted up because these image-laden threads are just completely broken. What's strange is that it's working for like 40% of images but I can't identify any pattern at all. @Jason Waddell is there anything we can do on our end?

Ah, my brain was just automatically filling in the missing part after a decade plus of these. Sweet.

Seems solid, but am I missing something with exile? It says that it exiles the target card from the graveyard. I do like the extended time to flashback the spell, it's way better than when red would get until the end of turn versions of this and those pinched you on mana.

Went for the SOS Prerelease last nights at my LGS and went Lorehold with my sealed pool. Pretty sweet deck overall, a ton of different lines and sequences. Almost felt like playing a cube deck with how much synergy and depth there was: I love card filtering in Limited and headed into this...

    Shamim's Cube

Hosted a draft last summer (back in late August) at a local brewery with a full pod of 8 but I forgot to post this re-cap. Been sitting as a draft on my Google Docs until now, but figured I’d get it up since I’ll be posting my latest cube draft from last month soon. Hopefully I can get that out...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

I was in the same boat when it first released, didn't play it for many years, but I think the advent of FIRE design changed my perspective quite a bit. When it was being used to counter a single big threat at 4 or 5 mana and then producing value with the other modes it was an obscenely huge...

Will echo the same thoughts on the art in this set; it just isn't it. I spent part of the weekend watching a few older videos by Rhystic Studies on old sets and man they really just don't capture that worldbuilding anymore. Some of these pieces are stunning on their own (shoutout Erode), but as...

    General (SOS) Secrets of Strixhaven

I'm probably just skipping out on Prepared cards for my cube; just not a fan of memory mechanics in paper Magic outside of its Limited environment where it's more commonly featured. The card frame is way too similar to Adventures (same issue I had with Omens from TDM) and I much prefer that...

Can't you just cast it for something like WWG and have it enter as a 2/2? Not ideal, but definitely possible.

It feels kinda below rate unless you're putting 0 or a ton of mana into it. I'd probably be more excited with the flexibility if it was at instant speed.
