    Nanonox's 1vs1 cube

The issue with my heavy artifact theme I have a very heavy artifact theme in the cube, to the point where I run more colorless cards than cards of any individual color. I have 2 kinds of artifact payoffs: 1. open-ended (think “whenever you cast a noncreature spell” for example) 2. Artifact...

Sets (OTJ) Outlaws of Thunder Junction Previews

I missed the Tumblewagg, but that extra mana is rough! Siege Veteran is a lot worse than the Aspirant for example, even though that second line of text isn't nothing of that majestic mount. Not sure I see the Tarmogoyf analogy for Cactus Bill. How do you figure?

As Rasmus says, such great cards, some of which are throwbacks to some of my favorites! Geralf, the Fleshwright is almost a Blue Monastery Mentor. Sandstorm Retriever is pretty clearly the Green Blade Splicer. Bristly Bill, Spine Sower gives me big Luminarch Aspirant vibes. Phantom...

I was looking for a conditional 2 mana counterspell and I think Phantom Interference is it! You’re right Train that it’s less powerful than Lose Focus, but I like the mana sink mode for a mediocre proactive threat. Erik, if you run just one, I think the Shark is more versatile. It’s fantastic...

Really like Nuturing Pixie, reminds me of Shepherd of the Flock trading the option to protect your cards from removal for a better body and counter synergies. That is some pretty wild text! I would love to combo this with Bitterblossom or Dark Confidant. The usual 2 mana double strikers...

Sets (OTJ) Outlaws of Thunder Junction Previews

This seems like it can get out of hand very quickly in a format built around spell velocity. Getting a zombie for each cantrip, creature or bauble you have leaves you with a nice and open ended storm style payoff that doesn’t ask you to go all in. It’s obviously better when you do with Frantic...

Sets (OTJ) Outlaws of Thunder Junction Previews

I just realized what is missing in this set for me: the escape. I fell in love with Magic because of the dragons, the demons, the elementals and wizards. It’s the setting and the creatures inhabiting it. Outlaw Junction doesn’t offer much escape because it takes real life history and just...

I’m not 100% sure, but it’s like the dude looks more like an insect than a plant. Also, it’s not the flavor that I dislike, I misspoke. It’s the name. Seems more cartoony than MTG to me.

I’m definitely interested in this guy. With double fetches and a small counter theme it’s perfect. I also like that it’s a lands card that isn’t 3 mana for once! Hate the art and flavour though :(

Jace says on YOUR first three turns. Anyway to cast it during an opponent’s turn early?

    General Custom Cards: The Lab

Is Platinum Dragon the name of the custom you are suggesting for the picture? For the demon, I had the same stupid prompt as the dragon: draw an enormous demon old school style. I then asked it to make it a blood moon. For the angel, I don't recall the prompt. "Old school" gave me sort of...

    General Custom Cards: The Lab

I was using Microsoft Copilot AI (which uses Dall-e 3 if I am not mistaken). As for the prompt, I am not very eloquent with words and used: “draw an enormous red dragon old school style”. I am as surprised as you that it turned out this good. I tried making a demon and an angel as well that I...

    General Custom Cards: The Lab

Not really sure where to post this, but I am discovering AI generated images (late to the party I know), and wanted to see if I could generate some cool MTG style art. I think this one looks amazing!

General Fantastic, all-around staples you might not be running

Occult Epiphany (In 1% of cubes on CubeCobra). This card does so much. You smooth your hand, fill the GY and add to the board, all at instant speed. The delirium adjacent condition means you can get creative during the draft and deck construction. Flyers pressure the opponent and trigger Staff...

    Nanonox's 1vs1 cube

Wandering Emperor would definitely be reasonable in this cube. It would be a high powered card, but that is fine. I am just wary that it's a little too generically good. I've been trying to stay away from those types of cards because they detract from synergy decks. The biggest argument for me...

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

I like this take and wouldn't include Wasteland in a bounceland format for that reason. But I do like keeping players on their toes. It adds a bit of spice and fear to the mix. Do you play your bounceland on turn 2 and risk the Spreading Seas? Or do you hold it and hope they need to smooth their...

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

For sure. And you color screw them. What I was asking is that if Wildfire is "strong, but not back-breaking", then Seas is too right? Maybe it comes down to how punishing that tempo hit is compared to the threats available in the cube. If that turn seals your doom, the threats are too powerful...

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

Is there a difference between the Wildfire and Spreading Seas?

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

It’s not so much that I want to punish the bounceland, but more exploring options of the format. Like a UB tempo/enchantment/resource denial strategy with Annex and Hopeless Nightmare for example. The 2 cantrips were supposed to be power outliers to draw people in.
