General Auras--What works? What's worth it?

Agree with what you said, but Stoke the Flames and Baleful Mastery and Price of Fame to a lesser extent don't follow that logic. They can be cast with 0, 2 and 2 mana up respectively.

That's a cycle...? What do they have in common besides having the most common mana cost and the fact they are good?

General Auras--What works? What's worth it?

It was common to cast those on the opponent's creatures when they had removal open :D especially Galvanic Arc, killing the creature it enchanted. Looking at what was mentioned so far, seems like auras that mitigate card disadvantage are the way to go?

What actual auras are you running in your Urza's Block cube, @Rusje?

    General CBS

Back to the topic, I'm going to say: Goldvein Pick I just had so much fun playing this thing in KHM, and decided to have an equipment theme in my cube. It is such a deep card both in terms of drafting as well as gameplay relative to its simplicity.

I thought a lot about it, but looking at my list, it just doesn't do much. These are my 1-drops that it can do something synergistic with: Dauntless Bodyguard Giant Killer Siren Stormtamer Carrion Feeder These are the ones it doesn't do much with: Healer's Hawk Thraben Inspector Usher of...

General What are your favorite mechanics that merge Cool Things with Winning Things?

Yeah, totally agree with that! Choosing your colors in a draft is resolving the tension between playing a subset of the cards available versus playing another subset. In a remarkably similar way that choosing an archetype is the tension between playing a subset of the cards available versus...

General What are your favorite mechanics that merge Cool Things with Winning Things?

So I've given some thought to this topic, and though my first response was in the direction of "here is why I think Clarion Spirit is great and other mechanics with the same traits", it took me longer to think about "what mechanics are educative to players". Let me try to organize my thoughts...

Sets (AFR) Adventures in the Forgotten Realms Previews- Dripping with Flavor, and Excess Words!

Isn't it more "user friendly" to see the whole dungeon map, though? That way you know what the next steps will be and what paths you need to take to get to an effect you may need in the future. Plus, you need to look at all three dungeons in their entirety to decide which one to enter (unless...

Sets (AFR) Adventures in the Forgotten Realms Previews- Dripping with Flavor, and Excess Words!

This has played well in AFR limited: You Hear Something On Watch Lots of "kill attacker" cards are awkward because they assume you are behind, so they are essentially dead if you are ahead. You Hear Something On Watch gives an alternative for when you're ahead, the +1/+1 mass buff. Combat...

Finally had some time to take photos and post. Photo 1 Far Left: Core Module, organized by section. I cut some cardboard when I was moving to make the dividers and put stickers from an old Gift Box I had been saving for years. A sample from the cards in front of it. (Photo 2) Center Left...

    Card/Deck [MCD] Sweeperz

I wrote about this in Discord once: "I'm actually moving towards 4-mana board wipes because I want my "aggro" decks to be built and played having in mind board wipes, so resilience and refueling is important." Longer version: when I tried 5 mana board wipes, aggro was more incentivized to go...

I thought "oh I probably only have like 2, but it's actually 8/360 = 2.22% Magus of the Disk Day of Judgment Drown in Sorrow Damnation Sulfurous Blast Slice and Dice Engineered Explosives Oblivion Stone I guess I like the tension of potentially playing into board wipes. Sometimes aggro has...

    General Physical Cube Setup

I know Jason hates the "look at what my cube looks like IRL" posts on Reddit, but with the recent discussion about marking sleeves for modules I'm curious about what other people's cubes look like - storage, sleeves, division of sections, alters, customs, foils, lands, etc. Post pictures of...

    Card/Deck Targeted Discard

Kitesail Freebooter Blackmail I don't have a hard rule against targeted discard, but when I ran Thoughtseize, it felt like a synergy disruption card that didn't really help the environment, because "synergy decks" didn't need to be disrupted that hard, at least at the time. So I cut it and...
