    General W/B Lifegain

Cleric Class Cleric Class is my favorite lifegain build around now. Resilient because it's an enchantment, helps with developing your board, late game value because of the reanimation, flavorful. Fits in aggressive and controllish versions of lifegain. More decisions than most straight lifegain...

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

The problem is how dead it is in the early game, so it's risky to run these cards. The format has to be really starved for card advantage for it to be worth the risk. I like stuff like Wander in Death better, which cycles away, but that's a pretty low power option too.

    General 180-card "Twobert"

I tried 10 packs of 10 per player: - Pick 1, swap - Pick 2, swap - Pick 1, burn the remaining 6 It was too easy to read the opponent's picks, leading to heavy hate drafting.

General What are your favorite mechanics that merge Cool Things with Winning Things?

This points at a tempo-bottlenecked environment, where card advantage is secondary. Yes, all contemporary constructed environments tend to be like that, and in particular modern and legacy. Not all contemporary limited environments are like that, though. I didn't mean that the double spell deck...

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

I loved playing Warlock Class. It wasn't absurdly good or anything, but the card both smoothes your draw and creates a victory angle without being obviously made for aggro, control, or some microarchetype. Pretty wordy though, and I don't know what the last ability means in terms of being a...

General What are your favorite mechanics that merge Cool Things with Winning Things?

While I agree the "double spell" synergies are a mechanic that feels good, I have an alternative explanation. I wouldn't go as far as saying they encourage building and drafting optimally for win rate, but they definitely encourage drafting cheap cards. - Cheap cards have higher agency...

    General Fight Club

On paper, Bearer is great and all those things. I couldn't get it to work, though. It was usually just a 3/1 flash. That was with a much faster list though, so in grindy lists like yours it might be all that.

Sets (AFR) Adventures in the Forgotten Realms Previews- Dripping with Flavor, and Excess Words!

I don't think it's that bad on average, but it is quite bad when behind and in board stalls. Then, when ahead, it's a snowbally pseudo-Jitte. It would rarely get into combat either, because the ability is so much better than the body. Not the sort of card that leads to games with back and forth...

    The Penny Pincher Cube (360)

2021 checking in. I made a copy of the Penny Pincher 1.0 list in CubeCobra: https://cubecobra.com/cube/list/penny-pincher to make sure it isn't lost to time (and gets its rightful short id assigned). I did the same with Penny Pincher 2.0: https://cubecobra.com/cube/list/inventors-fair

    General CBS

If you double sleeve, absolutely put the sticker in on the inner sleeve. (Edit: English prepositions are hard.) Yeah, I single sleeve, because of a couple of reasons: - The thickness of double sleeved decks and piles to shuffle increases significantly. It makes it harder to make packs and I'd...

    General CBS

That was like years ago so we don't remember very well, but she said that after some practice every 6 sleeves took a couple of minutes - guessing about 3 minutes. 6 because we cut a strip into 3 squares, then halve each square into 6 triangles. Yeah, it takes a bit of dexterity to stick them...

It is attached to the sleeve, but on the inside of it, behind the front layer of clear plastic. Edit: To be clear, it's attached to the opaque back, not to the clear front.

It's near impossible to put it on the bottom because it's inside the sleeve.

A better set of pictures: The second shows you can't tell from the other side there is a sticker. Using washi tape helps because it's so thin.

Grazilaxx, Illithid Scholar Grazilaxx, Illithid Scholar Aggressive blue creatures without evasion are hard to come by, and this has a unique ability that is both generically useful, but particularly with blink. It dramatically changes combat calculations. It rewards aggression, but not...

    The Elegant Cube v5

Yeah, the base for the change was literally going through every card in your cube and feeling if it sparkled joy to me. Then I thought more critically about which ones I actually wanted to run and what would stop the others from being viable - mostly speed, power level, and stretching archetypes...

    The Elegant Cube v5

Update 5.2 A big overhaul of my core module! I swapped 106 cards, which is 29.6% of the cube. I've written a more extensive Cube Overview as well. The goals with this huge change - probably the largest I've ever done in one go - were really a blob of overlapping goals: - First of all...
