Sets (LTR) The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle Earth

Did you read the lotr? (Or seen the movie?) The ring grants you shadow on use, but tells the Nazgûl where you are. What is worse is that it immediately makes the wearer (even when not in use) suspicious of their friends. Makes the wearer a target to all since all want it and will kill you. Makes...

Sets (LTR) The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle Earth

Well, trust me the opponent will trigger at the end of the mid-game. Then the treasure you will get is almost worthless, but the life you lose is worth it for the opponent.

Yes and no. They did not get the ring right. The movies did the ring justice.

    General "Looking for a card"-Thread

No it is not. Yes, it scales but no it is not fair. It is also a cheat card. Any expensive equipment with living weapon/for mirrodin/etb equip or cheap equip likes to be cheated into play. That is why batterskull together with the mystic was nasty. The tutor and cheat is what makes it really...

    General Custom Cards: The Lab

That’s very likely not to do anything since the opponent has to block with two, what will often kill your menace must be blocked creature. First strike/double strike (with deathtouch?) is making it nasty.

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

You are almost right. It is even more: it is a freeze+bounce with an extra rider to not tap before it hits 3. I think it is quite good since it ‘unsummons’ immediately. It loses a lot of power when the opponent has a lot of etb that one wants to bounce.

    General Archetype Printouts

I am on the fence. I like it, but at the same time it has the tendency to prevent people trying out things you did not even know that were there due to “forcing” players to adhere to the handout.

Sets (LTR) The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle Earth

And after combat? Do you lose it then or is it mandatory and you back up the truck? Playing where one cannot forget a trigger and go back is a tad nasty when playing for fun.

Sets (LTR) The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle Earth

hmm, I own an urza’s block cube. There echo gives a lot of nice tension and is quite fun. The only thing is in the beginning to remember the triggered ability.

Sets (LTR) The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle Earth

Hmm, I always liked the modality: keldon champion Kavu titan One gets played optimally, the other often not. The titan is often sandbagged to be able to kicker it while the best play would be to bear it. The champion was quite a good creature were one could abuse the echo to sacrifice it...

What’s wrong with echo? The same thing that is wrong with all upkeep triggers?

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

Besides the point of bootman, deed is often used in decks with high mana cost creatures (compared to the rest of the field). Therefore, the deed can be a one-sided effect. Breaking the symmetry on damnation is harder.

Sets (LTR) The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle Earth

Yes and no. The one green is often a lot better than a colourless (Eldrazi shizzle/fake 6th colour forgetting) when playing more than one colour. You need a shitload of legendaries to have the second ability be worth it. Yes, the 1/2 as opposed to the 1/1 is important. But does it really matter...

Sets (LTR) The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle Earth

Well, not true. The one ring has a real downside. It makes you visible to the Nazgûl. And the Nazgûl are stronger than any man (only beatable by a hobbit and a woman in the book). Tolkiens writing is kind of sexist, as most fantasy.

And that is why there were blocks: Thematically the same, art style the same, and in the beginning even the same abilities!

General (MOM) March of the Machines Testing/Includes Thread!

Thing is: in the old days there were 2 a 3 new abilities in the first set which was expanded upon in the next sets. This was changed to 2 abilities per set. Hence no use for blocks. Thing is that expanding was really nice from a play experience. We do not need blocks, just expanding the next sets.
