Erik's "The cool side of Magic" cube

It's powerful. LftL and pretty much all of the NEO lands get crazy together, and if you have a legendary creature on the board, you can forget about attacking into this. Or blocking productively. Or doing much of anything with creatures.

It's not a matter of who it's intended for, it's a matter of who is going to buy it regardless of merchant intent, unfortunately. Also, when has a company looked at a money printer and thought "hmm, maybe I should only print a little bit of money?" It's obvious that this will happen again now...

And a 3 mana 2/2 with double strike is actually kind of disgusting. That's close to Disciplined Duelist. This pair looks stronger to me than Urza, and while both seem fun to draft I'm not sure if the play patterns are going to be rewarding, same as you.

Hey what the fuck. That's just rude to the artists. Is this some sort of weird RL dodge or just another case of screwing over the artists? Edit: I know that art rights work differently now and that technically WotC doesn't own the original art to these cards, but you don't have to change that...

All I'm saying is that this is some real Cube BS. That's a lie. I've got a lot to say, but mostly it's this: I'm not really offended by WotC doing this, I'm offended by the cowardly, exploitative manner in which they've chosen to do this. A literal thousand dollars for sixty cards is absurd...

I know you're probably replying to Erik more than me, but to Sigh's point it's easy enough to make "enough" counters to be functionally infinite. A 20/20 is effectively an infinity/infinity for all practical purposes, and you can easily stack pennies to get there. Anything bigger is overkill.

I like Rusje's idea a lot because I think vouchers with reminder text can convey the overall concept we want better than an abstract token like a land unless it's something very simple like "island + mountain = volcanic island."

See, I like that idea, but the reason I want my players to draft cool basics is so that those cool basics get played in their deck. While that sounds more mechanically sound, it works around the problem a little too well for me. Vouchers are a really cool idea! And I like the idea of letting...

Real talk, I've always wanted to include a land slot in my boosters to draft really sick basics. However, the problem is that you're throwing away equity by doing so, and the only solution I've been able to find is to make it a desert cube, i.e. one in which you have to draft your basics, and...

BEEG Urza looks like a fun Meld card to include, especially because the Mightstone/Weakstone looks like a very solid Meteorite-type card on its own. I am already testing Recruitment Officer. I am also testing the Pacific Rim Island. People have noted this already, but it seems more and more...

Testing Pietra, Crafter of Clowns Vorthos Trigger Happy Tchotchke Elemental Pietra is lovely, beating face early and representing a bit of inevitability late. 10/10 Boros card, even though she makes a unique token. Vorthos is a fun way to add a mission statement to your draft, and while it...

General Spaaaaace: To Unfinity and Beyond!

I agree with you in theory, but I also don't want to put my players in awkward situations where they feel like they have to laugh/have to pull out a funny joke. I'm a much bigger fan of stuff like Chivalrous Chevalier, for example, mostly because you're not judging/being judged on how well your...

General Spaaaaace: To Unfinity and Beyond!

Most of the commons dump was uninspiring compared with what we've seen thus far, but this card drew my attention. A 3/2 that can pump out 2/2s is a pretty good rate, and the fact that Pietra can beat face early and represent *some* inevitability late is pretty neat. I'll probably errata this to...

General Spaaaaace: To Unfinity and Beyond!

This is a rules nightmare, but a crazy finisher. I predict that this and Skullclamp will lose a lot of games accidentally. It's a shame that it costs 5 mana and then requires more to actually do anything, but its neat nonetheless. This one, on the other hand, sparks joy. It adds a new level of...

Visually? It's very similar to the regular foil, maybe a bit glossier on the art. The texture is small bumps and only on the text box/maybe frame. It's actually fairly aesthetically pleasing. I don't think it would be easy to tell once double-sleeved, but I haven't tested that.

Sets (40K) Warhammer 40,000 Commander Set Previews

Yeah, a lot of my gripes come from these cards being significantly more powerful than the cards in the regular EDH products and the cards' abilities and ability names feeling fairly arbitrary. They're probably perfectly balanced for Commander, tbh. Compare the following: Inquisitor Greyfax...
