General Favorite Cards You Don't Run

Cruel Ultimatum By god did I try to make this work for years, but it was so difficult to get anyone else remotely interested. Why do all that work for something at 7 mana when they could just play multiple good cards while curving out instead? Ended up just using that tri-color slot for Kess...

    Sets (MID) Innistrad: Midnight Hunt

I think it's more a matter of what you're looking for from that slot. It's a card that obviously looks for a zombie theme, but I don't think you necessarily need a massive pool of incidental zombies. It's great for Humans, but I still find that most of my decks with Champion of the Parish still...

    General Removal density

Yeah, that can definitely be an issue. Sometimes you just need a certain density of Murder effects to just give enough tools to deal with threats, especially if combat isn't particularly interactive. I think the issue might just end up being the composition of threats that must be answered in...

    General Removal density

I'm actually a big fan of deploying more conditional removal to create decision trees for my players or trying to figure out an cutting off point for certain effects. For example, I like "unconditional" white removal to start showing up around 3 CMC on average with stuff like Oblivion Ring or...

    Sets (MID) Innistrad: Midnight Hunt

I'm a little torn on whether or not I want to include Champion of the Perished as a singleton in my cube or if it should facilitate a change to my Duplicate Voucher system. I've had Gravecrawler and Bloodsoaked Champion available as duplicates in my cube environment for years now (either via two...

    Sets (MID) Innistrad: Midnight Hunt

Was never a big fan of WAR Nissa in cube or most green walkers aside from Garruk Wildspeaker, but this does pique my interest. There's a lot of fun stuff you can do if you've got graveyard and land-oriented themes going on. Being mono-green lets you branch off into either RG with the typical...

I'm just spamming at this point (someone else post quick!), but dear god just look at these beauties:

    Sets (MID) Innistrad: Midnight Hunt

And the rest of what seems to have been spoiled thus far: I've got to say, I'm already a MUCH bigger fan of the direction that this set seems to be heading art and theme wise compared to many of our most recent offerings (except MH2, that was the shit). This feels much more in line with...

I'm in love. I think I might be ready to settle down. This is all that I've ever wanted.

    General CBS

This is kind of what has led to me being less engaged with the game as a whole recently, feeling a little burnt out. I mean, just look at the set release schedule we've had thus far in 2021: February: Kaldheim March: Time Spiral Remastered April: Strixhaven June: Modern Horizons 2 July...

    General We Make The Cube

Take the majority of the week off from forums and come back to a full fledged community cube project with utter confusion. I'm so lost haha.

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

It's solid, but at the end of the day it's a 4 mana "do nothing" enchantment if it's played on curve. Strong if you can chain multiple land drops or have some fetch recursion ala Titania, Protector of Argoth, but pretty fair overall.

Sets (AFR) Adventures in the Forgotten Realms Previews- Dripping with Flavor, and Excess Words!

It's unfortunate that they went so deep into dice rolling with this set of commander decks. I'm glancing through spoilers and as soon as I come across "roll" or "venture" I'm out. Especially dislike the variety of dice needed to fulfill different roll requirements. What a fucking mess.

General (AFR) Dungeons and Dragons: Adventures in the Forgotten Realms Testing/Includes Thread

Only a handful of main cube inclusions this time: I like Portable Hole as a clean answer to cheap creatures early in game along with being an artifact to open up other synergies with stuff like Toolcraft Exemplar or serving as "hits" for cards like Herald of Anguish or a more natural fodder...

Sets (AFR) Adventures in the Forgotten Realms Previews- Dripping with Flavor, and Excess Words!

@Velrun is much more generous in his assessment than me. Straight up my least favorite set of all time by far, not sure I even want to play any Limited for this set at all. I'm sure it's fun for anyone into D&D with various references and deep cuts, but that's a complete zero for me. Add in...

Sets (AFR) Adventures in the Forgotten Realms Previews- Dripping with Flavor, and Excess Words!

Is that the first unconditional ETB card draw in white since Wall of Omens? White 3s are incredibly stacked, but this is a nice little roleplayer in a variety of archetypes. Minor roadblock in control decks, nice blink card, and it even has the right stats for Lark shenanigans. Solid.

Sets (AFR) Adventures in the Forgotten Realms Previews- Dripping with Flavor, and Excess Words!

Man I dig the art and love Menace on a cheap human ala Glint-Sleeve Siphoner, but it's pretty lacking as a base 1/1 for me. I think Knight of the Ebon Legion is just an all-around superior option if you're looking for a mana sink on an aggressive body. If only it was a 2/1 and a little less busy...

Sets (AFR) Adventures in the Forgotten Realms Previews- Dripping with Flavor, and Excess Words!

Pass for me, just not a fan of mechanics that end up being this narrow. It's how I felt about energy outside of KLD block; juice just wasn't worth the squeeze. I'll probably enjoy it at prerelease and/or in a draft or two, but I don't see myself revisiting it beyond that.
