Desert-style cube where you have the Kamigawa exertlands in the basic land box and the actual cube gives you real lands? I like it.

The poison lands just need to be something like...
Obnoxious Bayou
Land
~ enters the battlefield tapped unless you have 3 or more poison counters.

I was really hoping that ONE would give us a black-border version of Noxious Bayou and friends. That would've lead to some really interesting tension in Limited, and would've resulted in Corrupted cards sometimes being worth drafting on their own.
But sadly WotC were cowards.
The bigger question about a full cycle of Groves is... what do you do with them? They'd all be untapped duals that punish you for playing aggro, and there are a grand total of two other payoffs for villain gaining life:
Wedding Ring
Kavu Predator
Do you really want to fiddle with your entire...
While I think that fears of the Punishing Fire + Groves synergy are a bit overblown, I agree that making it a full cycle would be a bit much.
I kinda want a black one, though, to combo with Needlebite Trap.
Nope!
That's only the case if you're doing the Prisoner's Dilemma in isolation. I'm talking about a tournament setting, like the one Prof. Robert Axelrod ran in 1980.
Wait, people post here who aren't game theory nerds? :p
Instead of talking about the actual topic of this thread from 2013, I'm going to nerd out about the actually interesting thing about the prisoner's dilemma (or any coordination game, really, but I don't know if anyone's done with with...
I meant split up in a story sense, not a mechanical sense. I'm not suggesting that we'd have two sets in a row with identical mechanics (though that would be pretty nice, honestly — it'd give them more time to explore the design space around stuff like Corrupted or Enlist).
The reason why I...
Thinking about the current plotline a little more...
I think that it could've been more effective if DMU and ONE had been split into a pair of sets each. Let's call them, I dunno... Dominaria United/Dominaria Besieged and ONE/TWO (I can't think of a good name for the second ONE set, so sue me...
I kinda skipped over OG Phyrexia because they were a completely different thing — for one thing, they didn't have the oil because Yawgmoth only perfected it just before he died. They couldn't phyrexianize buildings because a Phyrexian was a vat-grown dude called a Newt that got surgically...
I'll give you the gods (though the explanation there seems to be "we compleated all of Heliod's worshippers, and that made them believe in compleated!Heliod", rather than them compleating Heliod directly), but the rest of those are... questionable.
Like, I don't think anyone thought that they...
I kinda doubt it? The drones can probably be compleated, but the titans are almost definitely immune purely by being what they are.
...
I'm honestly only really a fan of these two designs so far:
Faerie Mastermind
Moment of Truth
One of the first themes I tried building around when I got...
{1} {G} would be absurd, and not even in a fun way.
T1: Forest, Utopia Sprawl
T2: Land, SSH, hold up some one-mana protection spell.
T3: Land, play an 8-drop.
Making it cost {2}{G} is probably the sensible approach.
Sorry! I keep forgetting that removal tribal isn't just a joke name for control. :p

I think your power levels are too high for the sweetest land untapper:
Stone-Seeder Hierophant
The card is basically just "What if Satyr Wayfinder was also Lotus Cobra?". It's capable of creating...
