    General The Fixing and I

The one free mulligan rule is probably the thing that makes the most difference in my cube to prevent non-games. When I've played without it, it felt like there were 3x the amount of non-games (still not the majority, but a significant amount). It's nice because: - It's commonly done and widely...

General Actual contest: Design a 360 card cube with 100 unique cards

Sorry, I meant "why would a green mage want to remove big creatures instead of playing something bigger?" But turns out monogreen doesn't have much stuff larger than Gigantosaurus, and I can see how it would stand out being the best threat at only 5 mana.

General Actual contest: Design a 360 card cube with 100 unique cards

Yeah, why get rid of it? Just play something bigger!

    Attack on Cube (2021 Update)

How were the 56 card pools? I saw you asked in the post draft survey and was curious about how players felt, and how you felt.

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

It has very high variance and is often a dud and often a removal check. In my cube it was just bad on average because it's easy to deal with a 4-drop 3/3 profitably, and half the time it wasn't even worth killing. Rarely, things aligned so that it ran with the game. It was a useful card for me...

General Actual contest: Design a 360 card cube with 100 unique cards

I present to you the Total War Cube: https://cubecobra.com/cube/overview/total-war Fun facts: - It has 32 Short Swords. - Blue is terrible but awesome instead of awesome but terrible. - Absurdly cheap on MTGO, absurdly expensive on paper, but it's actually better played on paper. - I tried...

    General Extra turn effects

To me, extra turn effects have always felt like cantrips that give you an extra attack and, in the case of Time Walk, extra mana. What is the power level of Time Warp, though? How does it scale with the environment? What decks want to run it? Time Warp I've never felt like Time Warp was worth...

    Sets (MH2) Modern Horizons 2 Testing/Includes Thread

I thought it was familiar, but after a while thinking I think it just reminded me of: Lost Legacy

    Sets (MH2) Modern Horizons 2 Testing/Includes Thread

Break Ties I'm going to test this without much expectation over Light of Hope - the added artifact destruction is huge, and graveyard hate is situationally useful. A bit sad it doesn't trigger heroic, but I only have 1 left anyway, so it's not really an archetype anymore. Also love the flavor.

    General Basic land box

@ravnic is such a purist. I am adventurous and I'd be ok with: Wastes I do think there is lots of design space in expanding basic "land" boxes, but the more complicated your decisions are after the draft, the more like building (the mana base of?) a constructed deck the experience is. I like...

General Actual contest: Design a 360 card cube with 100 unique cards

Maybe download the .txt and use something like https://www.textfixer.com/tools/remove-duplicate-lines.php, then paste back to notepad++ with line numbers enabled? I'm avoiding adding duplicates until I have to and mucking with tags to define rarity and custom draft formats in CC.

    Future Cycle

I think SpaceWalker4 is talking about archetypes that don't take up all of the deck, but are small packages you include in a deck. There are very few ways to achieve that: - Tutor effects like Gifts Ungiven, Doomsday, Runed Crown, Cunning Wish - Whole deck packages like Thassa's Oracle or (in...

Sets (MH2) Modern Horizons 2 Previews

FWIW, the bots look a lot better with this release to me. Most of the land picks are justifiable now (there weren't before), and they tend to be on color. There is still something off when the pick would otherwise be mediocre...

Sets (MH2) Modern Horizons 2 Previews

Talked to ruler501, she said the color identity of the lands is taken into account, but not color category, sort, or tags. I think you just got (un)lucky.

General Number of new and reprinted cards per year

I've had to start minding the stability of my list a lot more so that it doesn't change 10% from draft to draft. I'll now err on the side of minimizing cards that enter and leave the list instead of minimizing the number of cards that I "miss". Overall it's nice to have a bigger pool of cards...

I'm sure there will be more since the archetypes of this set match so well with my cube's, but for now: Core: Blazing Rootwalla Occasionals: Step Through

    Alvoi's Cube

There are lots of good reasons to increase density of fixing, but in terms of variety of deck composition, don't you get more variety if Thallids is sometimes WG, sometimes BG, and sometimes WBG instead of always tricolor?
