    Card/Deck The Simic Combine

Potential UG Topdeck package: Oracle of Mul Daya, Mul Daya Channelers, Future Sight, Courser of Kruphix, Impromptu Raid, Conundrum Sphinx, Predict, Sylvan Library, Brainstorm and friends, Scroll Rack, Stretching it even harder: Skill Borrower, Bloodline Shaman, Miracle cards? Thoughts? My...

    Card/Deck The Simic Combine

I could try running like Master Biomancer and Sage of Fables if I wanted to extend the +1/+1 subtheme into blue. Its possible but I'm hesitant because it feels like its going to be a relatively low power deck, possibly having the same problem UG tempo has had for me. Its probably still better...

    Card/Deck The Simic Combine

Since I can't find any helpful discussion on the identity of simic decks and this is a problem my cube has, I figured I would start a thread to get some ideas. Every other guild in my cube has pretty solidified archetypes and has been drafted several times: RG big red, real estate, wildfire RW...

    Sets Battle for Zendikar Spoilers

Ingest deathtouch was probably deemed too powerful to be showing up all over the place in limited. That's a sign that ingest is actually going to be a powerful and relevant thing in this environment. I expect some powerful (in limited) ingest-utilizing commons if that's the case. And that makes...

    Sets Battle for Zendikar Spoilers

I second the love for common/uncommon fixing and gold subthemes, I've never enjoyed a limited format where there was basically no fixing and everyone was playing a 2 color deck. Limited is so much richer with the tradeoff of picking lands instead of spells to splash more colors. I can't imagine...

    Sets Battle for Zendikar Spoilers

Right now my only green six drops are Prime Time and Rampaging Baloths. I think this might actually get in, it might even kick out Restock, but I'm not sure if a 5/4 and having it on a creature is worth 1 more mana and the second card coming later. Considering how abusable the Creature type is...

    Sets Battle for Zendikar Spoilers

I'm taking out the ally buddy lands for these. I'll keep the enemy buddy lands I guess. More variety and more fetch targets. I think I might actually pull Elspeth, Knight-Errant for new Gideon. I like making bigger tokens that actually feel impactful on their own, I like swinging with a 5/5...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

How is Luminarch Ascension good? Not sure I see it. Someone sell me on it, I want more low cmc control finishers. Gifts Ungiven is sweet. Sometimes is just an Inspiration that always grabs two relevant cards, in graveyard utilizing decks its often more. I love cards that give both you and your...

^ I run and approve of those three cards.

I'm actually really loving Whisperwood. I love the blocking subgame and the Wrath insurance. He's good on his own, fits into creature heavy decks, works with library manipulation, supports Wildfire and works with morph. He even produces combat tricks which rarely get a chance to exist in most cubes.

General Decks that have 3-0'd your cube

Starfield is a real card? At 5 mana it feels too slow but with Seal of Doom I guess I can see it. I'm surprised its playable but I guess I need to try it.

General Is too good fixing causing 3-color good stuff?

I've found that most of the decks that come out of my cube are 2 or 3 color decks. Mono decks are super rare because if everyone else at the table is doing a different 2-3 colors, every color is being taken by multiple people so its hard to nab a deck worth of a single color. Even with minimal...

I feel like I would rather run Divination in 1v1 for the immediate and guaranteed value. Demonic Taskmaster Cute control finisher or efficient beater that synergizes with stuff that likes dying? Is the drawback too big?

    General Fight Club

I actually removed Hero when he got sidegraded. Also, Hero's last ability was basically flavor text in my environment, making him feel a little vanilla. Hellrider I think is better because he's basically a 4/3 battlecry haste with the benefit of throwing some of the damage past blockers and red...

Card/Deck Green cards that support spell decks

I have also found that Quirion Dryad grows very quickly, probably because decks tend to be 2-3 colors in my environment. Green especially can splash like nobody's business. Molting Skin is another repeatable prowess trigger that I never got myself to try since it doesn't feel like it does much...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

Order of Whiteclay Alesha, Who Smiles at Death has been insane and this guy feels like he could be similarly powerful for white decks. The ability costs a third mana but he has vigilance and 4 toughness making him a great wall and about as good as surviving combat as a 3/2 first strike. He...

General Unpopular Fun/Effective Cards in Your Cube

I feel like that could be played in a UW slot in a cube that really wanted to push Heroic and Jeskai Ascendancy / Prowess, you need a lot of support and low enough power level removal to enable heroic. You probably want to be in a retail removal environment so there's isn't cheap instant removal...

    General Fight Club

I've cut Venserwalker in favor of Narset Transcendent awhile back and I am not looking back, but I think its largely a matter of taste. I never cared for Venser's minus in cube and he doesn't have the high starting loyalty (5 vs 7) that keeps Narset alive. Venser can also be dealt with by...

General Unpopular Fun/Effective Cards in Your Cube

17* derp, did not mean to type 27 there. Proofreading is tech. =P I've just found it worthwhile to slow down development mid game to keep a powerful creature alive when I know my opponent is going to run out of removal and I'll probably hit my land drops fast enough. It does make you think...
