This is also a playable red one drop. And when I mean playable, I mean that they have basically just declared that most of the other red one drops were just jokes. Seriously, how do people feel about the blatant benchmark burning? Is this a sign of power creep, that each set from now on will...

Creature - Zombie Warrior Risen Executioner can't block Other zombie creatures you control get +1/+1 You may cast Risen Executioner from your graveyard if you pay an additional 1 for each other creature in your graveyard This card is making me think it might be time to end my Vampire/Zombie...

It certainly makes Mardu Shadowspear look less appealing.

    Card/Deck Vamps

The phrase "lazy design", as far as I can tell from my exposure to it basically means "a simple design that accomplishes its purpose extremely well, but I'm not going to acknowledge that and pretend I don't like it because I didn't think of it or am irrationally opposed to it."

That seems like a playable red one drop.

The problem with Chandra is that if they were threatening with anything other than an X/1, your chances of untapping and being able to fork anything was pretty low. Narset's crazy loyalty, while it may be a blunt instrument for doing so, makes it far more likely to actually accomplish it. If you...

Gudul Lurker seems playable in my environment, but then again my bar for blue one drops is stupidly low.

Scaleguard makes Kalonian Tusker look stupid with a bigger body AND +1/+1 synergy, but I don't think there are dragons enough to make it work.

Rebounding stupid things like Repulse is going to feel like a kick in the nuts. Trying to rebound shivan meteor for the stuffy doll kill will probably cause me 0-3 a few upcoming drafts. . .

I can't say I dislike Narset. The loyalty does seem a little on the high side, though, doesn't it? That's a pretty big fog.

    The Board Game Thread

I think Amun Re is the best of those with a couple of caveats. Amun-Re is long, the ideal player count is exactly 5 and it involves lots of tight evaluations. Ra is under an hour, the ideal player count is exactly 3 (though 4 isn't terrible) and it involves lots of much less tight evaluations...

I've been having a lot of fun using conditional reanimation as a means of giving white decks resiliency, but I'm not sure that requiring a blue splash is the direction I want to go with that. That said, I do like the W/U command, considering how many W/U cards are just harder to cast white cards...

Scalable threats are the best. I like this guy way better then the other terror-dude variants, except maybe bone shredder. I'm going to run Scute Mob again #Swarmyard.

Its pretty dumb how pushed Stratus Walker is in contrast to comparable creatures. I'm all for fluctuating power level to create different environments, but this is just ridiculous.

Suddenly Carnivorous Death-Thrummingbird seems less dumb. I mean, it's still a little too pushed for my tastes, but going from Welkin Tern to this new guy is also a pretty big push.

    Article ChannelFireball: Utility Land Draft

Trilands are ok, Vivids are better, I don't think I've ever ran out of counters when I needed one. Unless you specifically don't want to support color #4-5 I think you'd want them they just support more decks. Bouncelands are pretty good as long as you don't run too many wasteland, sinkhole...

The Dandy Cube (Chris Taylor's Cube)

Defiant Strike could be ok. Guided Strike has much better applications, but 2 is so much more mana then one that its worth a try. It also makes favored hoplite's damage prevention more then flavor text, which counts for something I guess.

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

Cruel Sadist This card hits a lot of the right buttons for me. Unfortunately, it also sucks pretty hard. What's the simplest way to make it cubable? The first ability requires three costs. If we eliminate the tap, the card is just insanely good, so that's out. We could add stuff like "once...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

I hated Puphoros. He's really good. I mean, after talking all kinds of shit about sanguine bond as "an enchantment that is just basically lava axe" one might think I wouldn't like Purphoros, but there is a big difference. Purphoros costs less and does his damage by doing stuff that is...

Rotisserie drafted separately. In practice most decks don't want the same lands so its no big deal, but we determine a draft order just in case. The binder has two copies of each fetch/shock, but recently we changed the rule so that each player can only draft one of each. We'll see if its...
