nightmare shepherd How powerful or snowbally is this guy? I've never seen him in action because I've killed him on the spot every single time in Standard but it seems extremely strong with the proper support. Thoughts?

Arcbound Ravager is such a cool card...sadly, I haven't been able to make it work. You need quite a lot incidental artifacts or a focus on artifact aggro/counters to make him worthwhile. In the end, I found he asked too much. Very neat card, though.

Erik's "The cool side of Magic" cube

So I've been tweaking cards here and there. No big changes, a few cards coming in and out, the usual. The issue I see is that I don't really know what I'm doing on a design level. That is, I can tweak cards one by one and see if the cube improves. But that's slow and not really all that well...

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

Exactly. While it will happen sometimes, I don't think it will happen very often. Three creatures is a lot, spercially if you want to lean higher on the mana curve as GR usually does. And if she might trigger, your opponent might just shoot her with a Firebolt before she can provide card...

Ultimately, the issue with Gallia is that, most of the time, she's a 2/2 haste. Which is a surprisingly good floor, mind you. But my experience with Robber of the Rich has really soured me on potential advantages on haste bears.

    General Small archetype packages

Yes. So it may not actually be a full archetype as much as it is a package, but it's fun. Interestingly enough, I got to it naturally. Some Riptiders actually support the archetype in a more directed manner.

    General Small archetype packages

Earlier this morning I noticed I had added a small archetype in my cube without meaning to. And it made me think of small archetype packages that can be implemented in most cubes without radical changes. Do you have any that surprised you? BERSERKERS Fencing AceSolemn Recruit Stoneforge...

Yawghmoth's Will is surprisingly fair and even weak in cube. The reason is simple: It costs 3 mana. There are not a lot of spells that are worth playing at that cost, Regrowth is already kind of questionable. Still, it's a fun card that is worth exploring. It's good enough with a Ritual, a...

I have the same issue. I'm not fully happy with Fire Imp and having to run the online version is a bit of a bummer, but he IS blinkable while most other cards competing for his slot aren't.

Glare is strong, but it's a gold 4-coster. Furthermore, GW is a weak colour combination with very little disruption. That said, I would only put Brago as a stronger multicolor card in your cube, at least at first glance. Oakhame Ranger is terrible. It was very bad in limited and, when you...

Erik's "The cool side of Magic" cube

I've been asking people to draft my cube to get some more info and wow, thank you! I'm now much more closer to understanding the limitations of my cube and how I can improve on it. It's not the most interesting nor unique cube but I think all the decks that pop out are fun. I've been tweaking...

I just want to say: I fucking love Trade Routes. It may not fit in many decks, but it's such a good design. Love it.

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

Personally, the largest issue I see with spells decks is, well, not having enough spells. I always seem to have enough "payoffs" but not enough cantrips or whatever.

Not quite. Divert resolves and changes the target of Counterspell to itself. Then Counterspell fizzles because its target no longer exists. This doesn't matter in most situations but might if you run Baral, Chief of Compliance or whatever.

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

I do believe Divert is the best of its kind. Costing U makes it far easier to find a target than any other card like it. Still, remember that, historically, the main use of Divert has been "Counter target counterspell".

I would love to make some exchanges. I'm reaching the point where I can see myself doing many more changes without a lot of play so any help is welcome :)

General Let's talk about generating value

Tempo means "one player turn" in Chess. Hence, if you can generate a chess game out of Man-O'war, it's a tempo card.

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

What I'm trying to show is that these cards are not very great by comparing them to middling cards that do pretty much the same thing. As in, if I had the choice, I would play Djinn over Soramaro or not use its ability. I simply don't think the cards work well. If I see them in a cube, there's a...
