    General Prerelease Reports?

If you like Visions of Brutality, you should check out Cast into Darkness and Crippling Blight. I really like them as aggro-leaning removal spells for black.

General Print this Wizards! (So I can put it in my cube)

How about some replacement abilities that let white exchange lifegain at the time it happens for other effects? It'd be similar to black's life payments, but fit better from a flavor perspective in white. It also helps lifegain effects become proactive instead of just dragging out the game. Here...

General Print this Wizards! (So I can put it in my cube)

I'd like to see more and varied hate-bear style cards in white. Make it "trickier" in the sense of creating a puzzle your opponent has to solve as opposed to coming in unexpectedly with instant speed effects.

General Print this Wizards! (So I can put it in my cube)

The "freeze" effect of holding town a tap over an extra turn is pretty solidly in blue's color pie slice these days. White usually just taps once. That said, white already has Blinding Beam, which is arguably better than Sleep on average due to being instant speed and having multiple options...

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

Arms Dealer I don't generally care for super linear tribal stuff, but what about this guy for some incidental extra value on gobbos? I like that it's not quite as swingy as traditional lords. The WCS isn't the greatest in terms of mana efficiency, but is still 4 damage at instant speed...

Sets What cards from Theros are you playing?

Yeah I like monstrosity a lot. It's kind of like morph in terms of adding mana sinks to the late game to keep momentum building, but without the hassle of worrying who's got the list of morph dudes in your cube memorized. It's also a good way to promote "counters matter" on the side.

"Magic the Boxed Set" Teaching Cube

Yeah I knew some of the M-sets were considered better than others, but hadn't looked up which ones those were. Could you, or anyone else from the peanut gallery, elaborate a bit about what made M13 in particular stand out?

    General CBS

I end up playing 41-45 card cube decks all the time simply because I can't figure out what I want to cut and don't care enough to worry about shaving a few percent of my win percentage. Incidental protection against mill decks is a bonus, heh.

    whydirt's peasant cube

My new plan for fixing is to just make the 15th card in each booster a copy of Evolving Wilds. It's my favorite fixing land of all time due to how elegant of a design it is. It's playable in any deck; fuels Brainstorm, landfall, delve, and domain; and cuts down on the learning/memory space for...

"Magic the Boxed Set" Teaching Cube

So given the above goals, this cube will have somewhere between 60 and 90 unique commons, and all but a few of them are going to be monocolor cards. This means we need to identify around 15 unique cards per color for our common pool. Looking at white, here's a rough list of effects I want to...

"Magic the Boxed Set" Teaching Cube

As a side project, I want to build a small accessible cube for new and casual players. I have a lot of friends who are into board games, but aren't invested into Magic as a hobby. It'd be cool for me to something I could pull out and play for a game night with them. It'd also give me something...

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

Just remember that any power pumping tricks, auras, or equipment will remove it since it checks the low power requirement continuously.

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

Ashes to Ashes is basically a one-sided pauper Toxic Deluge and is probably even better than Deluge in lowered power formats where everyone plays fair creature decks. I actually found it at its best in black aggro decks as a way to clear blockers for your dumb beaters.

    General Custom Cards: The Lab

Worldly Hunt - {3}{G} Sorcery Domain — Target creature gets +1/+1 until end of turn for each basic land type among lands you control. It fights target creature you don't control. (Each deals damage equal to its power to the other.)

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

Being useless when your opponent has an empty board is true of all removal, so I don't really consider that much of a drawback. No one would complain that Go for the Throat is bad in a similar situation. I'd be totally down with Skinrender if it just had a smaller or more conditional effect or...

    The Penny Pincher Cube (360)

Is Swarm of Bloodflies over Scavenger Drake to trigger up counter-based anthem effects immediately? Just like the bigger starting body? Bit of both?

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

Skinrender is just the exact type of boring value creature I specifically started my current cube project to avoid. There's very little play to it - just shrink/kill their biggest dude and get a decent body on the board. Soul Snuffers is better than Skinrender against wide decks, but comes...

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

Speaking of low power sweepers: Barter in Blood I feel like this should be playable, but at least in the previous version of my cube it just never made my final 40. Maybe I'll feel differently now that I've cut all unconditional Nekrataals. Also, I'm going to test this, since it looks fun...
