General What can green do that's not ramp?

Yeah the self-mill angle can be pretty high octane and scales reasonably well based on the support and payoffs chosen. I’ve had some pretty degenerate games that started with entombing a golgari grave-troll

General What can green do that's not ramp?

In addition to what’s been mentioned, there’s power matters/berserkers, land tilling (lands changing zones for profitable triggers), dredge, creaturefall, and creature toolbox strategies

Thanks, but I prefer to just ram my head into a wall for 2-3 hours a day every day until I pass from this plane of existence

Same. I don’t have the stamina to really jump into the thick of things, but I’m enjoying the back and forth outside of the momentary whiffs of dogma. :D My cube for the last several years has felt like a search for a power-max version of a riptide cube. I crave mana efficient spells and...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

Chain is at its best when you are doing super cheaty things with baubles and Sai, Master Thopterist and the like...I think dbs runs it. Directed at your opponent is pretty situational in a typical cube context, and I can only assume that quality increases in a multiplayer setting rather than...

We need more inside jokes to get the most out of this. Less cube content more BTP

Focusing on a card like Champion of the Parish makes more sense to me in making that context dependent argument. YP is different to me...even at a lower power level you could have things like retrace spells, firebolts, blast from the past, etc sitting in the yard to profit from. It definitely...

I have no stake in this YP discussion, but for the record I think that it can scale to fit a pretty wide range of power bands with the proper support. It’s a great card. I’m just started to feel like it’s getting squeezed out of my cube design

sure, but the lower the power level and less emphasis on efficiency and speed, the more space there is for exploratory drafting and discovery by wacky strategies I mean things like a simic ramp deck built around dredge and splendid reclamation more so than black aggro :D

Those wacky unexpected decks are more planned for here and the power level is lowered to make them viable

Yeah a lot of what I’m reading here is just apples and oranges. Which is fine! We all have our personal set of principles and methods of card evaluation that we’ve come to rely on that are sympathetic to our design goals. I enjoy reading funch’s perspective....a lot of it doesn’t resonate with...

    General Poll: Shroud & Hexproof

Same here. Shroud is a pretty interesting keyword in practice to me. I never cared for the Tiger, but the others are sweet. Some others from the annals of time that I like: nimble mongoose gigapede multani, maro-sorcerer Which are all obviously outclassed these days. I have a deep, profoundly...

I agree that it often feels out of place in most of my Izzet decks. Pyromancer is best in Boros in my experience. It's biggest weakness is that it doesn't pivot particularly well into black and green. Sedgemoor Witch could help that in black, but it's pretty antithetical to what my black decks...
