I used to run about half of my noncreature red spells as burn. Every red deck wants them. I've recently been experimenting with running spells as a payoff for decks that run lands.

True. I'll look into specifically bolstering the simpler strategies. The massive amount of text generated by having a graveyard effect on many cards or an extra sentence for exiling something is a lot to deal with while drafting.

I've been fighting an internal battle between me wanting to make the deepest format possible vs my playgroup being half beginners/intermediates that can't handle that much text or super tricky interactions. Is there a way to search scryfall for cards as printed? Specifically, I'm seeking burn spells where I can get a physical copy that properly lists the targets.

They fix your mana as much as seeing more cards and having more lands does, but I mostly agree. You could also argue that you aren't fixing anything in a monocolored deck, for what it's worth. I do think Rampant Growth is the much more flexible card. A lot of Gx decks want that and/or Farseek...

There's several blue variants, as well. Run those plus token makers or manlands and 1-2 large creatures for a fun cheat deck.

When I had 1cmc ramp creatures and an abundance of 2cmc ramp spells, everyone in my group played ramp into 4 mana 5/5 all the time. Didn't like how it panned out. Currently no 1cmc ramp creatures and just a few 2cmc spells with my 4 drops being a bit neutered, just in case. Dryad of Masks...
