    Sets [C14] Commander 2014 Spoilers

What a pretty, emo deck :) I don't understand where all the resentment for commander comes from though. Not liking the format I can understand, depending on the playgroup it can have some pretty massive flaws, but people here actively have a dismissive attitude towards it, and that I don't...

Sets [KTK] Khans of Tarkir Spoilers

Because enjoying commander is a capital offense? Elitist snobbery I say! Sure we do, he's in the first post of this threat!

That expansion symbol is really ugly by the way. I'ld have to see the cards in person, but it's almost (almost) ugly enough to not want to put the new commander cards in my cube.

Sets [KTK] Khans of Tarkir Spoilers

A thread is being derailed because no one knows who this Gurgaz guy is, even though he and Zurgo are probably acquaintances. I mean, since we know Zurgo, shouldn't we also know Gurgaz? He's practically a friend of a friend! Other than that I'm stoked for the Sultai Brood clan, because of my...

    General Making Aggro more inclusive

Say this out loud with a fake Russian accent. What would a Russian guy even mean with 'man fuel'? :D

    General Otherworldly Magic Effects

Hearthstone misses one important feature the tcg had though. Besides classes (and thus class-specific cards) you also choose a horde, an alliance, or a neutral hero, and each creature also belongs to one of these three factions. Horde can only play horde and neutral creatures, alliance can only...

    General Otherworldly Magic Effects

I think the WoW tcg had an interesting take on resource management and "color" identity.

    General Removing Green From Cube

I don't get what's so frustrating about that. Why is a color that naturally (ha!) lends itself to midrange/ramp strategies a bad thing? Do we only want aggro, control and combo in our cubes?

Or we could use the space theme, anyone remember that? Edit: http://archive.wizards.com/Magic/magazine/article.aspx?x=mtgcom/feature/391

    General Otherworldly Magic Effects

I think you need to allocate existing core concepts (like mana acceleration, discard, draw, enchantment removal, direct damage, etc) in a new way, with maybe some overarching concepts to frame those mechanics. Mechanics (like radness) are a way to shape those core concepts into fresh cards, but...

    General Removing Green From Cube

Yeah, you might be right. Cutting cards with 5 colors is already hard enough, add in a sixth and suddenly you have to cut another 8 cards from each color in a 360 cube.

    General Removing Green From Cube

Yes, but what mechanical identity would you give purple as a color? :) I would like it to be a proactive control color with access to ramp and enchantment (but not artifact) removal with a creative solution for creature removal.

    General Removing Green From Cube

Personally I love green, and it certainly has its own identity. Removing it is still an interesting thought experiment, and you can actually "house" most of its effects elsewhere. Ramp > mana rocks Mana elves > moxen Trample > red has that as well Lifegain > white and black Midrangy decks >...

General Riptidelab mostly-custom cube attempt #1

Hybrid kicker on playable mono-colored cards could be interesting. I was thinking along the lines of... Vigilant Seeker {1}{W} Creature - Human Scout Kicker {1}{G/U} Vigilance If Vigilant Seeker was kicked, it enters the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter on it and it has "{T}: Untap another...
