    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

Sounds great! There's a lot of good Planeswalker removal nowadays that also doubles as creature removal, so that really helps to seamlessly integrate Planeswalkers into more Cubes.

A 9/9's worth of creatures for 4 mana is pretty good!

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

I think a play pattern you're often going to run into with Garruk Wildspeaker is "+1 mana–>Overrun" in decks that don't pay too much attention to the cute untap synergy stuff. The card is powerful enough that players can easily use it as a good value card in divergent strategies aside from the...

General (LTR / LTC) Lord of the Rings Testing/Includes Mega Thread!

A little off-topic, but have you considered Phyrexian Fleshgorger? To remove it immediately, the opponent has to pay 7 life, which is a pretty substantial cost. It also has both lifelink and menace, meaning that it creates a big life swing when it connects and usually kills multiple creatures...

Sets (ONE) Phyrexia: All Will Be One Previews

It was mainly a plot point in the story articles and not so much on the actual cards. The key characters, items, and locations such as The Celestius, Katilda, Dawnhart Prime, The Moonsilver Key, and Teferi, Who Slows the Sunset were all on cards, but the fact that they were trying to prevent an...

Article Sink or Swim: Making Cube Approachable

Something interesting I thought about while reading this article is that some cards fit more in the "positive" column of one category and more into the "negative" column of another. Dark Confidant is a great example of this. Bob is a good marriage of mechanics and flavor, earning its status as...

Sets (LTR) The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle Earth

This seems somewhere between "deent" and "great." I don't know how often you're going to be activating the ability, but a baseline 2/2 Indestructible that can throw a bunch of power and Lifelink around seems very good. This also has some nice synergy with Proliferate. I might be testing this if...

Sets (LTR) The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle Earth

Yes, because they're supposed to represent different things. Tempted by the Ring is supposed to represent what happens when one of your creatures is holding the Ring. They end up becoming of increased importance and start gaining more power for as long as they're holding the Ring. If they lose...

Sets (LTR) The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle Earth

That's not actually what I said. If you look at the Ring mechanic right now (your ring-bearer starts with the ability to become invisible and then grows progressively more powerful as the ring tempts you until it either dies or loses the ring), it's honestly not a bad approximation for what the...

Sets (LTR) The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle Earth

I know what the Ring does in the lore. I'm saying that the play patterns of the Ring mechanic look like they're going to parallel the lore reasonably well even though there isn't an explicit "your creature gets weaker than it was initially if it stops being the Ring Bearer" line of text anywhere.

Sets (LTR) The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle Earth

It's almost like the fact that you're making one of your creatures super powerful is going to draw a lot of attention from your opponent and make them try to kill it. The Ring literally turns your opponent into the Nazgûl.

I agree; all of the choices are fantastic. I actually like the way some of the lands look with the standard UB frame, which is nice.

Sets (LTR) The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle Earth

I was expecting this set to be a lot more "EDH-y" than it actually is turning out to be. Obviously, some of the legendary cards are hilariously bad designs, but the normal cards have been pretty great, to be honest. I know we've talked about most of these already but I'm loving this group of...
