Big fan of this. I love modal cards. This is both a nice early game play and a potential finisher, plus it's an artifact creature that places counters.
I really like this idea– it would let you help balance the scales between aggro and midrange while playing a number of cool midrange threats that don't see Cube inclusion as often as more popular options. The biggest issue you would need to contend with is figuring out how these cards will beat...
Based and Gingerpilled.
More fixing is still nice though to help with spellcasting consistency. You could cut some of those basics then and play more spells (which is pretty helpful in a deck with 8 one-drops... those cards can become just as dead as a land in the late game depending on the...
According to MaRo,
Evidently, they didn't use the Bolas' Citadel tech in these decks to feel more retro. Personally, I like the retro artifact frame with a colored text box for colored artifacts, but I think this decision is also understandable.
Re: Sanwell–
While I don't think these goals are at odds, some colors are intrinsically better at doing certain things than others. Creating an environment where every color can equally contribute to each macro-archetype might get in the way of creating the best possible play experience for the first goal...
Truer words have not been spoken.
(I think I still like Burning Handprint disfigure, though. Dragon Engine disfigure is cool, though, it's a very nice piece of Vellenov art!)
I'm kind of surprised no one has brought this up yet. Shivan Dragon and Flametongue Kavu stapled together seems like a pretty cool card. I like this a lot more than other more complex versions of similar effects like Glorybringer.
I might not be playing this card in my Cube, but it's the type...
I think this is a cool idea to explore, but I'm not sure I'm understanding your goal here. Do you want to build a Cube where the "big three" macroarchetypes are fully supported with a minimal focus on microsynergy, or do you want to build a Cube where each color is equally contributing to each...
Not any narcotic substances, only some delicious bacon ;).
I’m not sold on the idea that a 3/2 flier for CC is too pushed for constructed in of itself. It’s definitely a good statline, but if the card doesn’t do anything else (which harbin won’t 90% of the time), it just seems like a fine...
Speaking of Watchwolves... this is the first time RG has had a real printed 3/3 Watchwolf variant (other than the un-one). It's probably not as good as Territorial Kavu, but I think it is reasonably playable for people who might be interested in such a thing.
This is a $30 Commander card in the making. Green doesn't currently have a way to blow up all artifacts and enchantments for less than 5 mana, so having a card that can do just that is a big deal.
Finally, a bridge between artifacts and counters (and tokens too because let's be honest most of the artifacts a w/g deck would have entering the battlefield under its control are Clues, Treasures, Food, Golems, and Servos in that order.)
