Language is contextual, the prefix "multi" just means several. Since mtg is usually played with two players, it's sensible for "several players" to refer to more than two.
Oh good point! Makes it even nicer to switch out some cards I have to the ones with the new frame :) Generally find the new wording to be much easier to read.
It's played in a bunch of constructed decks so I think at the very least it's playable. I like that it steals the creature for several turns, makes for a better tempo swing.

That card pisses me off in standard, but maybe for the right reasons? It's powerful, but I think you can survive the discard, and it takes some deck building to be able to cast it consistently.
