I've liked Bonds of Faith in the two slot. Maybe that's an option for your aura decks? A lot of those targets are humans, and it doubles as removal.

Arjun, the Shifting Flame looks like a decent replacement for Niv-Mizzet. It burns through your deck like crazy and is a suitable big fat flyer to finish the game with.
