General CFB Store Credit Contest Ideas

Okay, that's the competition. $25 to the winner. $25 to the best two if we get a lot of entries. Subjective judging. Go go go people.

General CFB Store Credit Contest Ideas

Is the topic "find a card that is worth including in multiples and how to integrate it" worth a shot? The most fun I've had in cube design is making Gravecrawler and Pod work.

    Card/Deck Making Delver Work

Love Geist and think it's a well balanced card and a great reward for building a blue attacking deck. Hexproof on a 2/2 that needs to attack is pretty interesting.

    CML's Cube (405, polychromatic)

It's really juvenile, but every time I see that card my brain says "Demonlord of Ass-to-mouth".

Sorry the site is a walking pile of turd today. Hopefully we'll get this server trouble fixed soon.

    Card/Deck Making Delver Work

Brainstorm's ability to flip on upkeep (and being an Instant) makes it significantly better than Ponder. I don't really consider them in the same ballpark for Delver. Maybe it's the lack of shuffles, but I like Preordain better than Ponder in Pauper Delver. My guess as to why Delver does well...

Five years ago, I was slumming it in Pittsburgh. My (then) wife and I were using Craigslist to make other couple friends, and we met some couple who was slumming it in some apartment a few blocks away. The guy was a scruffy artistic type, working now as a math teacher but he would disappearevery...

Yesterday I was at a cafe in Ghent in a crowded part of town where there's almost no available street parking. A spot opened up and this Belgian car pulled up in front of it and started to back in as one does. Then this Dutch car speeds up and nosedives into the spot, and won't move, so the...

    Card/Deck Making Delver Work

I mean, I agree that we should question whether something (anything) is worth doing. I really like playing these attacking blue decks, and don't necessarily agree that the way Delver games play out in cube are reflective of Delver games in Standard / Legacy / Pauper / Modern / whatever...

    Card/Deck Making Delver Work

I think there's a lot of other factors here. I don't mean to discount CML's contributions, but... I dunno, I've seen some pretty shitty blue decks come out of his cube. Maybe I'm full of shit too. Those decks above only have 10-11 instants / sorceries. Delver still felt like a good 1 mana / card...

P.S. you guys can suggest actual Magic topics. Unlike Eric, CML might not agree with me on everything.

    Card/Deck Making Delver Work

I don't remember these statements, but, I'll just say that even with 0 fetches and the possibility of Brainstorm locks, I love having 4x Brainstorm in my Pauper Delver deck.

I remember finding those parts interesting at the time, but now all I remember is something about information transfer via some cult underground sex sewer, and some unfortunate human data processor getting fucked until her system overheated and she caught on fire or something. In retrospect I...

    Card/Deck Making Delver Work

A while ago somebody (probably Eric) was complaining about Delver flip probabilities. Let's say your deck is one third spells. Those are the distributions of when you expect delver to flip by turn after playing him (black curve), and the cumulative distribution (red curve). 13 spells is...

    Card/Deck Making Delver Work

This is one of the worst ideas I have heard. Part of what makes good cubes good is that a low CMC means competing resources in your hand and an increase in decision density. I have a whole article on the topic in the can, so I don't want to waste too much time on it, but part of the reason that...

    The Book Thread

Do I come across as a moron if I say that the further back a book was written the less I enjoy it? I just have no appreciation of the classics. There's a quote somewhere to the extent of "classics are books you don't want to read, but want to have read". I don't even want to have read them. Just...

I'm not saying these are perfect decks, but here are two Delver decks that have 3 - 0'd my cube.
