I once heard of somebody using City of Ass to kill for exactsies via Devil's Play + flashback. Also, I really really don't want more :b::b: cards around.

    Eldrazi Domain Cube

Well, I think a lot of it comes down to execution. Personally I have a lot of fun when I pull off a good 3-4 color aggro deck in my primary cube. There's also a big pitfall of early cube designers of putting tons of gold cards in without supporting them with sufficient fixing. Also, many of...

Agreed. He was much better in my cube around the time when he was first printed. I ran a very different cube then.

    Article ChannelFireball: Utility Land Draft

Well, Oracle of Mul Daya has been in and out forever. It's been a pretty inconsequential card here. I don't know if "worth a pick in the main cube" is a criterion for exclusion from the utility land draft. The main idea is to make sure there are good decision dynamics in each. That said, I've...

    Eldrazi Domain Cube

I just realized I don't have this card in my list: It's also possible that with all the spawn tokens I should be running more sacrifice effects? These seem pretty fun. Are there more cool sacrifice effects that are better suited for a lower power cube?

Hmm... interesting card. I imagine it's pretty slow at 5 mana. For comparison 5-mana in my cube buys you artifacts like: Then again, Venser is 5 mana. Then again sometimes people don't even play Venser because he's pretty weak.

So here's what I am trying: Out of main cube: City of Brass Grand Coliseum Oracle of Mul Daya Into main cube: Celestial Colonnade Creeping Tar Pit Horizon Canopy Out of Utility Land Draft: All two color fixing lands New Utility Land Draft Fixing Section: Reasoning: I wanted to have...

    Jason Waddell's Cube

Hi Arjan, thanks for the feedback! I haven't actually tested Ghoultree yet, but my plan is to (eventually) move my cube towards many of the Innistrad themes, with lots of graveyard play. I'm very interested in seeing how it has worked in your cube. Grisly Salvage and Much are indeed very fun...

For anyone using OCTGN, my name there is "Trunkers". For the rest of you, you all should learn Netrunner. It's a fun game!

    Hannes' Novice Cube

Uh oh, rich man Hannes. I don't even have my own copy of Voice yet. I'll probably just keep borrowing one every draft.

    Eric Chan's Modern cube (405)

This is a topic that perhaps deserves some fuller attention elsewhere, but part of it is just an intentional choice of what you want to be strong. Which cards do you want to be the game-winning cards? As a player I tend to prefer the "sneaky" low-mana games that are filled with Thoughtseizes and...

Not yet. You got about 60% there though. CML, care to bring us home?

General Original Draft Formats, Custom Sets, etc

If you want something nutty you should check out this thread: http://riptidelab.com/forum/threads/my-next-cube-renovation.12/ It's a new cube idea I've been working on that I will be able to start testing in 2 - 3 weeks.

What exactly do you mean by "Original Draft Format"? Do you mean with all custom cards?

General Print this Wizards! (So I can put it in my cube)

I did the same thing. It's far too easy to lock people out with a ton of Crawlers and Ghasts running around. Skullclamp + Bloodghast is pretty gross. Toss in Fastbond and you have Ad Nauseum. I have found the zombies version far more enjoyable to play with and against.

This is true. Do you guys find it hard to navigate around here? I kind of like having a one-click shop for all my forum needs. We're going to reach the tipping point eventually, it's just a question of when really.

    CML's Cube (405, polychromatic)

So one thing I've said to Eric is that a major difference between design and playing is that when you play a game you have a really easy evolution mechanism. There is a clear metric. Which decks win? You get very objective feedback this way. Further, the churning of ideas is expedited by...
