I kept forgetting which creature this reminded me of. Now I remember Araumi of the Dead Tide With Emperor of Bones and Araumi, there might be enough density to support a small theme!

Erik's "The cool side of Magic" cube

I don’t know about that. With the Landfall cards especially, you can steal games out of nowhere. Felidar Retreat and Hedron Crab are cards I tend to slot into my slower lands decks and Aftermath Analyst or Second Sunrise will close the game real quick. Same with Titania + sacrifice outlet, you...

    Nanonox's 1vs1 cube

I drafted what might be the best shell for Molten Vortex and it's just ok? I feel like the other land synergies are more powerful if you can get them off and Six + Seal of Fire kind of steals the spotlight as both cards are very much playable by themselves. Ones 1 Mishra's Bauble 1 Urza's...

    Zanzibari Cats

I would slot in these two before Empty the Warrens Chatterstorm Crow Storm Being a full mana or two cheaper means you can more easily get away with smaller storm counts and they are easier to recur. I really like these because they play so well with creature mana generation like Earthcraft and...

100% agree, but the Emperor is more exciting for me because the ceiling is so high. Through the Breaching a big creature every turn with a counter theme is really cool and it it’s a self-contained engine with the Adapt and the GY exile. That said, it’s too complex I think for it to earn its spot.

I love the art and vibe of this set. This to me is close to peak MTG that I fell in love with. It has some elegant and simple card designs alongside great art. I won't be testing as much from other sets, but I really don't mind and still enjoy what this set brings to the table. Includes Kitsa...

I am pretty pumped for this one in my MP cube. You now have Molten Gatekeeer, Warleader's Call, Impact Tremors to make a theme (or token payoff) out of it. There is OG Purphoros, but 2 damage is too easy for my liking. Didn't expect a Storm payoff in White! Finishing a Storm turn with a 5...

The classes are fantastic in this set. A 1/1 prowess for a single Blue mana that also triggers your other prowess cards. Then you have a mana sink a win condition.

    Nanonox's 1vs1 cube

I hadn't considered that angle, but it does look appealing there for sure. The only downside is that between Pyrite Spellbomb, Legion Extruder and Seal of Fire, it eats away at the instant and sorcery count in Red, so I have to stay mindful of that. I agree that it isn't trivial, but at the...

This one is not for me, but it is another Persist combo piece that isn't overly narrow. This one might be for me though as that second Level is gas! It isn't limited to once per turn and triggers off any permanent. Amazing for self-mill decks. It ties artifacts, sacrifice and GY themes...

Oooh that’s a great idea! I was looking to complement JVP, but this is probably better.

    Nanonox's 1vs1 cube

Ideas are firing on all cylinders and I think they are actually decent, so I thought I would share them. This is a flurry of changes, most of which I think are actually here to stay. Skittering Precursor -> Detective's Phoenix I've been unimpressed in my current iteration with cards like...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

Agreed! It’s really fun to go off with Mentor too. Speaking of Mentor and variants, Geralf, the Fleshwright can be an all star or a dud depending on the cube. You really have to be more all in than other cards of the same nature. I love Seedshark, but mostly because flooding the board with...

    Nanonox's 1vs1 cube

Right back at you! That is an excellent point that I am completely disregarding in this cube. Has me thinking of "easy" combos/engines I could include. I used to run some of these when I was less committed to this more all in version of the cube and was cultivating some classic midrange decks...

This seems really solid for combat centric cubes. You have a tension between playing it and beating down or holding it up for protection.

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

I’ve been having similar thoughts about the Pyromancer. My biggest gripe is that it doesn’t trigger off noncreatures limiting the decks that want it. However, I now see it as a Grixis control card that floods the board with chump blockers rather than a spells matter or token card. Your Grixis...

This is a really powerful wrath! Trading a card for your best creature is an easy choice (which does make the card less interesting if you are always gifting). I’m really excited for this guy in my MP cube. It’s a great Storm payoff that triggers off anything.

    Brad Loves Eldrazi

If you can take another token, Tormod, the Desecrator is a cool payoff for that archetype too. Syr Konrad, the Grim will trigger for damage and works for aristocrats. Isareth the Awakener is another type of effect that might not pop up on Scryfall. I don't mind Ranger-Captain as a good card...

    General (BLB) Bloomburrow Spoilers

This little guy seems spicy! Gives the lands archetype a solid way to close out the game. Bestow a Springheart Nantuko on it and go to town. Or even just pay 3 for 2 copies and the game will be over shortly. I don't know if it's too effective though as 4 damage per fetchland seems like it leaves...
