    The Sadness Cube

Recently, I got hit by the idea of making a four-color half-cube. Nothing too out of the ordinary, right? Here's what I'll be using for the basic land box: Underground Sea Volcanic Island Tropical Island Tundra Removing cost from consideration has... interesting... consequences. Fish Have...

The set trailer is fantastic, and I will hear no slander against it.

The trailer made me flash back to my orientation, and the painfully earnest video about how consent worked. Through the metaphor of sharing hats. Yeah.

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

This is a straight-up draw engine for Landfall that encourages you to dump a lot of lands at once, but doesn't require it to be good. It's less powerful than Omnath, but it's also way more interesting.

    General [STX] Strixhaven Spoilers

Strixhaven reminds me of one of the things that frustrates me about Magic's design: non-permanent subtypes show up, are a big part of a set/block, and then never show up again. So any Lessons we get this time through will probably be the only Lessons we'll ever get. ... Now part of me is...

    General [STX] Strixhaven Spoilers

I just thought of something blindingly obvious. If you squadron together a card with Learn and a Lesson, a lot of the issues of ensuring Lesson density in draft just kinda... go away. On top of that, multiple Learn cards end up synergizing in a pretty natural way, and you could balance things...

If you end up running enough of the colorless Lessons, it looks like there's already the potential for a low-powered toolbox deck centered in White:

    General [STX] Strixhaven Spoilers

I'm cautiously optimistic about Lessons, at least for a low-powered cube. At the very least, the colorless ones might be interesting? Let's take this card for example: I could see drafting this Lesson in a few different situations: I'm in a cube where removal is generally this expensive...

    The Biovisionary Cube

Conspiracies might be a bit on the nose, but I might as well bring them up. Yes! It looks like Strixhaven will be giving us enough toys to support spell-slinging in colors that don't traditionally dabble in that kind of thing, like Green and White. This is basically perfect for a future rendition of Afternoon Delight. That third ability on Augusta is pretty cool...
