Card/Deck [FDN] Foundations & Jumpstart – Testing and Inclusions!

I think I'll end searching stuff on scryfall and end up digging up cards from this set every now and then

Sets [FDN] Foundations (a new Core Set)

Now that the full set is out, this seems like a sweet set. Happy to see more morbid and raid cards

Sets [FDN] Foundations (a new Core Set)

Haha I love the flavor text of this card. I don't think a single insect token constitutes a "swarm" my dude

Sets [FDN] Foundations (a new Core Set)

I find this card really funny. Standard burn support?

Sets [FDN] Foundations (a new Core Set)

This is a sweet card! This would totally make me wanna go for a threshold deck

    General [DFT] Aetherdrift

Very funny that after 30 years we're getting Magic Kart Racing

Sets [FDN] Foundations (a new Core Set)

Aren't those the same card par the name?

Sets [FDN] Foundations (a new Core Set)

I actually think the new damage rules sound way more straight forward and intuitive, I welcome it. Sure you now might have to device some new tactics but, whatever. The streamlining seems worth it.

Not necessarily a hater, but it really is a sign of the times that we're so extremely deep in "thing you know" being a requirement for so much games and media being made

Sets [FDN] Foundations (a new Core Set)

Think you might need to explain that to me, I don't see how the goblin serves the same purpose as pyromancer

General Underexplored Horizons- a custom set

Damn that modern horizons card is a pretty clever fetch!

    General Fight Club

Yeah, without being super versed in playing spell slinger decks but, surely we have to assume access to cantrips or other ways of keeping your hand stocked with spells to cast? Otherwise the deck doesn't work

Hmm... that's very interesting. If some cards turn out to be staples, it's probably very cheap to just buy a couple more of them. Plus, having a local card pool meta with some pre-constructed decks probably encourages people just dropping by to play (as is often customary in EDH circles). Edit...

Hm, that's an interesting thought! Not sure how to resolve who gets what when several people want to build with the same cards, though.

I actually play a sealed league at work, we start with 6 boosters and add 1 pack after each round (4 total rounds, so 3 extra packs). Might be worth trying to encourage building decks with what we've opened and play post league as well. (The super try hard version would be to put a stamp on...

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

Depends on the average quality of your cards. In a high power format, drawing cards are probably worth more.

    General Big Jumpstart Cube Post

Don't know if I'm reading that excel table right, brainstorm as a removal spell? :marofl:

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

I would just sleeve up two test decks, one discard deck including Rielle and some challenger deck and play test it. We can theory craft all we want, you won't know until the cards hit the table

See, people keep mentioning this in this thread but I think that's a different thing entirely. I like cubing and other "closed" formats, but I think there's a lot of fun for a group to open boosters and start making a collection and putting that collection to use. If I bring the entire card pool...

My only real thought around trying to reduce spiking in an "open" format (i.e. not cube or battle box etc.) would be to maybe have some concept of forced rotation. Oh you're playing a bunch of expensive powerful cards? They're now banned or restricted! To encourage constant brewing. Maybe the...
