Hi guys! Firstly, I would like to apologize for making a second thread if that was not the correct way to approach this. If this is considered spam, please let me know so I can be more careful in the future. Thanks!
Recap: On Sat. night, I hosted a Chaos draft. The packs involved can be found in my previous thread, so I'll skip those. Below, I have prepared visual decks that each player constructed, sans basic lands. I hope you all find it interesting! I am personally very pleased with how I drafted, although I did wind up going 1-1 due to flooding. Somewhat disappointing, but I had a lot of fun, and that's what counts. Without further ado:
Brad Costillo
Will Wajert
Niki Patterson (1st place Champion!)
Israel Tapia
Richard Patterson
Anthony Burley
Abraham Sloves (Me!)
Jeff Pate
I am very pleased with how I drafted, and how my deck turned out. Considering that I frankly could use a lot of drafting practice, this made me quite happy. My first pick was Omnath out of zendikar, my second was Cloudgoat Ranger out of Modern masters. There were a few cards that I regretted passing, but overall I feel that I made a majority of the right decisions, and wound up with a powerful curve, good removal, good fixing and more than one bomb.
Round One:
I lost to Richard Patterson's Gruul deck in the first round. Game 1, I crushed him with a double activation of Selvala's charge, into Courser's Accord. Game two was extremely close, but he managed to stall out, and I got flooded, drawing six lands in a row and allowing him to take the game. Game three, I kept a hand with three lands, Mercy Killing, Chrome Mox, Temporal Isolation and Kanzandu Blademaster. I exiled Mercy killing to the Mox to play the Blademaster on Turn 1. I then proceeded to draw eight lands (my only draws the entire game ) allowing him to kill my blademaster, and slowly overrun me.
Round Two:
I won against Anthony's Grixis deck. There was nothing much to say about it; Selvala's Charge, Courser's Accord and Cloudgoat Ranger are all excellent cards. He later told me that he opened Sedris, the Traitor King in his first pack which he felt forced him into Grixis' colors.
Biggest disappointment (aside from the mana flooding): I never drew Omnath during the entire tournament.
Biggest play: Anthony killed one of my three kithkins on a full board to keep me from swinging for lethal. I used courser's accord to populate them, and promptly swung for lethal.
Biggest Pull: Israel Tapia cleaned house, pulling both a Chalice of the Void from his Modern Masters pack, and a Sacred Foundry from is Original Ravnica pack! Nobody came close to that kind of money.
Let me know what you think! Would you like me to do another write up the next time I host one of these things? Any suggestions for formatting, etc?
