Sets [EOE] Edge of Eternities

Edge of Eternities is the 106th Magic expansion and is expected to be released on August 1, 2025

Set Details: The story of the set is located in outer space and is top-down inspired by space opera. The set was first teased during the August 2023 Announcement Day panel at Gen Con Indiana. While it is a "space" set, it is very much science fantasy.

Creature Types: Edge of Eternities will feature aliens. (So don't forget this card exists.)

Storyline: The set marks the beginning of the third and final story arc of the Metronome storyline. It introduces the Edge, a region outside the Multiverse, bordering the Blind Eternities. Harness the advanced technology of the Sothera system as forces vie for cosmic power, and discover what lies at the heart of this turbulent galaxy.

The Tezzeret alt-art goes extremely hard:

Weird walker to evaluate as it looks to be a pure value piece, doesn't really break the game in any big way. But getting a triple Luminarch Aspirant buff for an artifact every combat is pretty big game (as is being able to stack emblems). Definitely one to keep in mind if you've got a strong artifact subtheme.

I think I'm most excited about the focus on lands in this set and being able to expand that through red. Would make it a cool archetype to more easily bleed through Naya colors having been centered in Selesnya for so long.

I really like this new Tezzeret. It feels very fair outside of time vault. I really like the idea of fetching:

Even something like fetching up an everflowing chalice

Tannuk is really interesting. I’m a fan of an aggressive loam deck in Gruul. I’ve wished that iridescent vinelasher was red since it was spoiled. My gruul section is far from resolved…the main issue is 3 mana is the most congested mana value in the lands deck

Agreed, I’m just afraid it’s a little too easy. In the right deck, this is really tough to kill in combat since the loyalty can get very high super easily.
It’s going to be tough to exclude though as it can get some combo pieces like Zuran Orb, LED and The Ozolith as examples. It even gets colored artifacts unlike Saga.

One of my favourite card from the new set does work in Gruul lands!

Landfall actually makes a ton of sense for space set, and I love those basics

There's so many sweet options for full art lands now, I love these

Dunno if the overlap here is just me: I don't usually read the web fiction stuff they do for the sets, but EoE's getting one written by Seth Dickinson (author of The Traitor Baru Cormorant, and more recently and popularly Exordia) and I enjoyed it - here's a link to the first installment.

Not the first time they've done an author I've heard of (Martha Wells did one a while back) but it's still pretty uncommon because while I read a lot I'm mostly out of the mainstream.

I only need a few more in the "<=uncommon" pool to add a landfall module to my Multivalent peasant cube. I already run 10 bouncelands and the Landscape cycle from MH3, so there's plenty of gas for them. I almost decided to add a bunch of Chocobo stuff into the cube but finally decided I wanted to preserve the Magic the Gathering-ness of the environment.
