General "Looking for a card"-Thread

and don't forget Step Through and Vedalken Aethermage if the creature you want is a Wizard!

Guilty, it’s still the evil blue Magus of the Moon I’m going for. I think Step Through might actually be the one for me even though it’s pretty low power. It can be tutored by the rest of my tutors. It can instantly get Snappy (Snapcaster Mage) or Harbinger of the Seas and it can even be cast sometimes for 3 mana because my (Duel) Commander is Elminster. Thank you! I love to test out low power cards.

Tempest Djinn might be the correct choice in the end, although it's a bit boring.

What do you guys think of these cards? Is either of them good?

I am looking for a card that fulfills three requirements
• it can be a win condition, finish the game,
• it makes you want to play mono blue or close to it,
• it is better than Drowned Secrets and arguably Scourge of Fleets.
How about Mu Yanling, Sky Dancer? It's not necessarily only meant for mono blue, but it's good for blue things and the ult (which I've pulled off a few times) can crush.

Also what do you think of the adamant spells from ELD? I'd imagine that if you were trying to support mono colors you'd already check there, but it's worth a mention.

I think Demilich is kind of the opposite. As long as you're casting spells you can kind of ignore the blue requirement entirely. And without context I'm not a fan of either, but at least Charix is BIG CRAB.

I really really love this card. I would be playing it myself as a "one-card archetype enabler" thing but Blue is too popular in my group, it's just not feasible with people forcing the color and the wealth of fixing available.

Demilich is great too, another card I'd find a way to play if I had a non-proportional blue section.

Miserable to play against though :p
Sometimes, other times not so much

There's this one plus the updated version in the new set. Are there other removal spells like this where you can pay a bunch of mana to get rid of it? I like that it will lock up a cheaper creature pretty effectively, but will only tie up 6 mana against a bomb in the late game.

This is the classic

Another cool one along these lines is

You're much more incentivized to crew 5 a 10/10 than an early game dude.
