Onslaught Masters

https://cubecobra.com/cube/list/onslaught
Ideally a 405-450 card list.

WU Birds (Flyers)
UB Zombies (Graveyard Stuff)
BR Goblins (Aggro Stuff)
RG Beasts (Ramp)
GW IDK (IDK)
WB Clerics (Life Gain)
UR Wizards (Spells/Prowizz)
BG Elves (Yard/"Jund")
RW Soldiers (Go Wide Aggro)
GU Morph? (Face Down Draw Go)

The goal of the format is to feel like Onslaught without being an on rails tribal draft experience. Each of the tribes support a mechanically thematic deck that isn't simply to take all of that tribe's cards.

A lot of the typical role players have been moved into a tribal slot. Most of the ramp comes from elves. Most of the yard interaction is a BG Elf or a UB Zombie. The small red guys are goblins and the white weenies are soldiers. The top end is beasts and dragons. Etc.

While I don't want it to be a bullshit tribal cube, I'm still running the flexible tribal enablers like changelings or Species Specialist, etc. It wouldn't be Onslaught without some tribal decks. The narrow tribal payoffs are kept to a minimum.

There's plenty of Cycling and some light support of other, smaller Onslaught themes, as well.

I'm having trouble with the power level and don't have a ton of experience with Morph, so that's what I mostly need help with.

I've been really interested in low power, inexpensive cards lately and I think my playgroup would appreciate that interest being expressed by the block where most of us started.

Dabbled in Elves and Zombies before deciding to just go for a ramp deck: https://cubecobra.com/cube/deck/61b4e89bdf1a1510246562fc

For some reason I didn't see the big targets, so I'm ramping into mediocre stuff (apart from Primordial Mist, which is busted). I could have used some elf payoff to round this up and make it a hybrid ramp/elves, but Roots of Wisdom and Birchlore Ranger really didn't really make sense, and Species Specialist ended up out of my reasonable mana range. I was torn on running Kadena, Slinking Sorcerer or not. Still unsure.

Kudos on the cube, this looks great and true to Onslaught! If you want to play a game online some time, let me know.

The fact that you ended up in a not tribal deck means I did something right, at least.

I cut all manifest cards so that face down cards won't need to be marked, similar to my effort to reduce token variety in my cubes.
Might Kamahl, Fist of Krosa be a possible elf/ramp payoff? Other than that the premodern format might be good for a little inspiration.

Anyway, love the idea!
I had Kamahl along with some other Onslaught legends, but they don't support the themes as well as a lot of other 6+ drops.

Added Azure Mage as a little ramp/control payoff.

I really like this Cube so far, but one thing has been bothering me since I first looked at it:

This card looks so bad compared to the entire rest of the Cube. There's even another bird in the same color and mana value that's basically the same thing but better. I get that there aren't a lot of Bird Soldiers that work well in a Cube, but this feels like one of the worst possible options.

I'd suggest changing Aven Sentry for something else. Gustcloak Skirmisher and High Sentinels of Arashin could both be cool. Even something a bit weaker like Abzan Sky Captain is still likely a better power level than Aven Sentry. You could also replace the card with something entirely different like a removal spell or the surprisingly absent Irregular Cohort.

Just my two cents, Cube looks fun otherwise!

You really feel like it's that much worse? Seems like a solid clock. I can see swapping it for Skirmisher, especially because that's from the block.
Yes. A 3/2 flier for 4 with no other abilities is awful. It can't block well, and it's very boring. I don't think anyone would want to take and play this unless they absolutely have to.

Is this safe? I know it has the potential to be a menace, but it would mostly support morph here.
Probably. Most of this card's power came from it's ability to be stacked with high-cost and {X} cost instants in standard. In your Cube, it will probably be closer to how it played in RNA retail limited: a fun card for creature decks with on-board abilities that cost mana.

I'd like each colored section to be at 70 cards, I think. Accepting any cuts/adds/etc. I'm a bit lost in why I added certain things and could use a different set of eyes on it.

From the CubeCobra list, I think the cuts in blue could come from among:
Skaab Wrangler - I don't see a strong token presence anywhere except red, which will limit Wrangler a lot.
Sky Theater Strix - unlike something like Aven Wind Mage, this doesn't feel like a great rate to me even when going off or consistently slinging spells every turn.
Slipstream Eel - how flexible are you on Onslaught Remastered? Wouldn't this just be better as Waker of Waves? I like it a lot as low-power fatty + filtering. I also like Frostveil Ambush for the spells-matter theme here. Either way, I don't think the Eel's landhome feels great to play with.

Slipstream Eel does seem really rough. However, I want to defend Theater Strix. It’s 2/3rds as pricey as that Aven Wind Mage, and triggers off any noncreature spell. So it can start the beats on T3 *plus* whatever pressure the 3-mana play provides, by contrast to Wind Mage. Going in blind, I’d play Strix over Wind Mage in any format (except one in which a million 1-mana 1/2s exist, in which case I’d want the base 2/2 body).
