Wait... that card is a Rare? In my head I just went, 'oh, a homage to Caravan Vigil, that is cute'. Wait.. That mana-dork is a rare too?! What are they doing with their slots in this set?

I am digging the Investigate mechanic though. I will have to test whether it is too slow to work in my list though.

Traverse is likely a 1-mana creature tutor in standard for green, I think rare is deserved because creature tutors have a lot of potential (and would be a really ridiculous draft tool at uncommon). The rare dork though does feel more uncommon, I grant.

Also, any land when you hit delirium, not only basic lands. Definitely rare-worthy, would have been an insane uncommon!

I am actually intrigued by how easy/difficult delirium is to achieve in this limited format. I guess it won't really be revealed until we have more commons, but the uncommon cycle just revealed are interesting and tend towards the 'Delirium is an optional extra rather than a certainty' end of the spectrum.

That is probably the most interesting of them for 'pitches to force' themed cubes, though we have already seen Topplegeist and Tooth Collector.

Huh. I wonder how good the new counterspell is?

Confirm Suspicions {3}{U}{U}
Instant
Counter target spell. Investigate three times.

It's expensive, but that's a four for one!

Flying, Lifelink, Indestructible, Haste
After the disappearance of Griselbrand, Skirsdag adepts impatiently waited for another demon demanding their devotion. Ormendahl did not make them wait much longer.

the land is really really good

I'm really over {1}{G} x/1 creature ramp :( getting killed by the same commonly-played removal to beat aggro (or Jaces, these days) isn't really where I want to be with my decks, so I usually end up just skipping them.

The counterspell is pretty cool- if mystic confluence is a little stronger than you like this might be your dealie. 'Let your guy resolve, eot jace's ingenuity, untap, wrath' was a common-enough line, so I can imagine 'counter your thing I can't actually deal with, get some value over the next few turns' is a fine one as well.

Shit, that is one pushed card. If that mechanic (hellbent: draw a card and pay a life) is ever going to be viable, I don't even know how you it could be on a better creature without just being an asshole about it.

I think a pretty easy replacement for Pain Seer in my cube. The madness just pushes it that little bit extra, but can give you some crazy lines, like:

which all help you with you (and your opponents) hellbent too. and it synergizes to the max with effects like:

Reckless Wait #2
Did anyone like Reckless Waif #1? I found the card pretty awkward. It seemed I was trying to win the "does the opponent miss there turn 1/2 play lottery" when I had it in my deck. Flipping it on two while holding an instant rarely seemed like a great line.

Being a better topdeck is cool, but not being a one drop really sucks. It also doesn't address the #1 problem of horizontal strategies (crap! all my dudes are dead). I don't think this card has much of a niche. Its two bad cards in one and I don't think the flexibility justifies it.

Man, making it a 1/1 for two really sucks. I guess it works when you play it after a one drop in a mono humans deck but, when this is your earliest play? Seems hm, not too exciting.

As big a champion as I am of Champion (ahem... I'll see myself out), I don't really see Thalia's Lieutenant making the grade for cube, unless you're heavily all-in on human tribal. Champion was great because he benefited from all of the incidental humans in your deck, but this new guy screams "ALL HUMANS ALL THE TIME", by virtue of being a two mana 1/1, which I don't necessarily think makes for satisfying cube design or drafting.

I'm not seeing it, tbh. Does it look like her head is too small? arm too long? Wearing heavy plate + all those robes she's got on is bound to make anyone look a little funny.

Also loving the hand painting of this piece. The slightly grittier look is just a grand slam in my book.
