SECRETS OF STRIXHAVEN
I love the setting of Strixhaven and like the vibes of the set but I think I mostly have the same complaints as last time? Silverquill's aggressive + targeting theme is a really unique twist on what BW can do but idk if any of the cards compel me individually or together...
NEW YORK: NEON DYNASTY (ft. turtles)
This set unironically slaps! It's amazing that we're revisiting this plane so soon after Spider-Man but that is canonically one of the most popular sets ever**. If it had a vaguely fantasy-related aesthetic/IP I think it would be hailed as a Good Set (better...

LORWYN ECLIPSED
The long overdue visit to Lorwyn matched the whimsy of the original but also some of its insularity from a Cube perspective - a tribal theme for all but the broadest tribes (Humans) is unlikely to crossover, and there isn't much that...
Dryad of the Ilysian Grove is a great UG tie-in for Tide specifically; fully approve of Harrow over Mycospawn
I think cost reducers + untappers is the cleanest way to support Storm anyway and certainly the most natural home for Tide

Mystic Confluence
I've always been hostile to this card - it seemed like the epitome of 'designed for Commander, not balanced for 1v1, people like me only know it via Cube' (back when that meant this and not like Forth Eorlingas) and it's something you should take over most synergy pieces and...
The rate is just too bad I think - if it made a Blood on ETB but couldn't flip I'd be more keen (and marginal DFCs that don't have a Constructed pedigree are harder to justify since nobody remembers what they do; something like flip Sorin has a disturbing word count/complexity but offers a very...
In many cases this is how you smuggle the iconic/dangerous spell onto the card - it's hard to imagine a printable Channel design where the Channel is easy to unlock or gels nicely with the rest of the deck - but I think some of the 'normal' ones are stronger than this implies. The green Emeritus...
Full spoiler up now!
This is a nice glue card if you're pushing the grindy/GY stuff in WR. Compared to Faithful Mending this being card-neutral (or card advantage if flashbacked!) is really nice
The prepared thing is the closest we'll get in paper Magic to @Chris Taylor's Scrolls idea which...
DRAFT REPORT - MARCH 2026
For our overflowing Cube night (38 people!!) I volunteered up The Box (now encased in PT goodie bag quiver) but didn't have much time to update with new cards or change the old ones beyond cutting a few of my more exotic favourites and doubling down on fixing with the...
Kiora is nice and clean, and cares about the graveyard as much as I do, but Jadzi is a Human + Wizard + I care about <=2 power and tokens more than I should. I love the Steamcore Scholars and Champions of Wits of the world too. It's nice having options!
