Sets [EOE] Edge of Eternities

If Landers become a common token ala Treasure or Clues then I'm on board for inclusion in the future, but probably not right now from the jump unless some cards really lead to amazing gameplay.

On the topic of Landers, there's also:

What an interesting pseudo-modal card.

EDIT: I feel like Landers are going to end up in the same place as Blood and Maps did, where the only times they've shown up after their first appearance have been as little references.

I don't actually know how much better "surveil 1, then draw 2" is than "draw 2", but I think it's a fair amount? Losing 1 life instead of 2 is whatever, but the surveil makes it like draw 2.5 most of the time, since you usually either actively want land or actively want nonland, right?
It’s not trivial to trigger void though, especially not considering Hymn of the Faller is a sorcery.

It's just a little weirdo that loots when it becomes tapped and I really like that. It's pretty fragile, but I might try this over my only level up card Enclave Cryptologist.

This is... a pretty bad card. Like, the effect is cool, but 7 mana is so much. You're nearly at Zacama mana there!
I think it's going to end games relatively regularly in retail, though it's strange that it really would like to give itself haste so you have to play it a land drop later than you otherwise would.

If Spacecraft are going to be at all playable, this format's going to be sloooooooooow and grindy. Giving your whole team vigilance (and +1/+1) so you can actually attack may be more valuable than we expect! (also vigilance lets you attack -> station to have a Spacecraft blocker afterwards, meaning Station is more attainable)

Agreed. That's a shame, because it would be cool to get another trinket token in the mix with as much cross set variety as clues or food.

They probably debated whether they should make the flavor of that token more useful for future sets and decided it was more important to fit the space flavor.

They could have flavored the tokens for space via art while using a more general name if they wanted to.

Neat cards from the final dump -- they saved some of their most interesting designs for the end as far as I'm concerned.

I love a good 3MV reanimation spell. The cost on this is a little steeper than I'd like considering it limits what it brings back, but I have enough trinkets running around that it's not too big of a problem, and it does save a reanimation spell for the value/midrange decks instead of getting greedily taken for the "combo" decks. I like getting a lander at the end, too, especially since it looks like I'll be running those.

To be clear, this is not good enough for my Cube at the moment, but I think this could fit in my project and many others in time, and I like the knobs turned on this design, even the limitations! I just don't think it makes sense side-by-side with Victimize for me.

You ever see a card and just go "hell yeah"?

Really digging red getting mana dorks. This one does a lot of different things, whether it's indicating to drafter that red is an artifact/ramp/"big red" color in your Cube or helping with delirium. The stat line is fantastic for a dork and helps make up for the increased fragility that the extra card type brings. The activated ability is not wholly irrelevant either, but it's not really a major factor when considering the card.

Not for my main list, but going to keep a few of these aside for future projects for sure.

This seems pretty strong?? 4MV for two artifacts into your hand at instant speed is sweet. Fabricate who?? I think there's a lot of folks who may/should be interested in this.

Another common artifact creature in red that does a lot! I'm just glad this card exists, it's neat. Going to draft the hell out of it in retail, I'm sure.

Unless it's a clerical error from WotC, this allows you to have your opponent's creature for both sides of the deal -- even the same creature. It's essentially a kill spell, so long as the creature doesn't have at least 2 toughness more than its power. I don't really like the color pie break (even forcing your opponent's creatures to target one another is very much red), but it's philosophically interesting to consider whether you would/should consider it for Cube.

Of the 354 creatures in my Cube, 175 have equal power to toughness. 92 have more power than toughness. Only 36 creatures have more than 2 toughness than they have power, which means Diplomatic Relations kills 90.0% of creatures in my Cube. Green's not mad to have that kind of efficacy for 3 mana at instant speed, I don't think.

But in the same way that I don't like big green flyers (I've never run the very popular Hornet Queen and feel weird about Bloomvine Regent), I don't really want to give green what amounts to a kill spell, especially considering it will not be obvious to most players.

What's your take on this card, Riptide community?

I'm so mad that I didn't make this--I was super close with a card I made a little while ago! Anyways, card's sweet and anyone who likes tempo should probably think about running it.

Also, good eye, Miles--I think you've found our requisite Day 1 Errata. That's gross.
