General Re-examining The Basic Land Box

It's not unequivocally better though! Ash Barrens is always a mana source. Cycling lands are a [CIPT land/random card] split card. The whole appeal of cycling lands is that they fight both mana screw and mana flood.

General Re-examining The Basic Land Box

I don't see why Barrens vs the Thicket cycle is the comparison rather than Barrens vs Terramorphic Expanse. They do very different things. Does Satyr Wayfinder 'obliterate' Impulse?

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

Yeah, you need a lot of low-CMC (ideally free) cards or cost reducers to make it work: Cloud of Faeries/Snap/Frantic Search, Manamorphose, Phyrexian mana, Gush etc In Modern it's great with Goblin Electromancer: two mana -> Ritual -> 4 mana -> Haze + buyback, Haze again which was usually...

    My Marvellous/Mediocre Magic Thread

4-3 in the online PTQ with Valakut; one loss to severe mistakes on my end Deck has felt good in testing, I did decently well in the Leagues/PPTQs despite not playing much against my 'best' matchups (Bant Eldrazi, GBx). I want to test Death's Shadow since players I respect are advocating it...

Haze is orders of magnitude better than Astral Steel I love the card way too much, the ceiling is incredibly high but you have to put the work in for it. I'm intrigued by the idea of a combo tokens deck in red that uses Haze and Rites, Bushwhackers etc.

continuing my trend of hating anything critically acclaimed, I thought Stranger Things was fine but bailed on Westworld and Mr Robot quickly The West Wing is even more grimly hilarious as we enter the Trump era (let Bannon be Bannon!)

    Kamigawa cube

Turning the beautiful OG flip cards into ugly transform cards is grounds for a permanent ban IMO (yeah I have an unfounded nostalgia for Kamigawa, come at me) Here's a silly deck I drafted: www.cubetutor.com/cubedeck/638081[/url]"] Ones 1 Ethereal Haze 1 Hana Kami 1 Hana Kami 1 Hana Kami...

General Gold aggro and rethinking colour roles

What would a a more complete taxonomy look like? - W, U, B, R, G generic: Tarmogoyf, Doom Blade, Blade Splicer. Cards that cost 1W, R, 2U, etc. that don't have additional colour requirements and can go in most decks of that colour. Most of the 'good-stuff' filler goes here. These are the most...

Clique might be too good. If I'm at a table that favours blue, I'm taking Liliana though and feeling happy about it.

    Card/Deck RW Reanimator

I love this as an angle for WR, which often feels like it gets left out of the combo discussions. Blue normally sets this up better than red, but this is a more unique focus for red especially if you go hard on Welders (with white offering Refurbish and incidental artifacts via Thraben...

    Min/Max Midrange Cube Experiment

Drafted a few decks; lots of fun stuff going on, but I worry that the power band with the Emeria Shepherd-style cards is still too wide. It's helped a lot by the lack of blisteringly fast aggro, but if the other midrange options are equally powerful but cheaper and less conditional, they still...
