I really like white-broderes cards on the old cards where it was originally used if the card is in mint condition and has super white and clean borders. I think it looks wrong on the new cards with very few exceptions. Same opinion with the old card frame (renamed Classic frame) on new cards...

Could also be some sort of counter (not counter spells but counters you put on players and permanents) mechanic where a creature can only provoke once or twice depending on how many charge provoke counters it has. To avoid repetitive game states.

I am just sharing Wizards of the Coast’s own experiences with provoke. But I agree that there are ways to work around this problem. Both from a design perspective and from the players’ perspective.

Yeah provoke was one of those keywords with so much potential and they never used it again. Kind of odd. In fact it had so much potential that Hearthstone gave 100 % of all their minions provoke. The problem with creatures with an activated ability that lets them tap to avoid being provoked is...

Not an absolute truth, no, that is correct. For Hasbro shareholders it is certainly a good addition to the game.
