Isn't it a lot easier to cast this in response to removal if you a deck with several bodies? 2 mana is much harder to keep up.

This seems like an even more awful version of Thragtusk. Not as much guaranteed value, but god does that run away WAY to quickly. It's just a big dumb idiot card!

    Sets [M21] M21 Previews!

It's a static effect since you're never choosing anything and it doesn't trigger on the etb, it's just part of the text, would be my reading!

    General Companions, Yay or nay?

Here's an interesting development. New banned and restricted announcement just added this: https://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/news/june-1-2020-banned-and-restricted-announcement The companion isn't always available to be cast anymore, you actually have to take a tempo hit to do...

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

I guess it depends on what you pair it with. +1/+1 and trample is potentially quite a lot of extra damage getting through if it's played in the same deck as some bigger creatures (like 3/3 and above).

    General Fight Club

Moldervine Cloak also does this cool thing that we've tried to a highlight a little bit the past weeks about serving multiple roles and being "dense" in themes. It's both good for aggro and self-mill, and because it comes back works both in more regular stompy aggro where you just curve out with...

    General Small archetype packages

That's probably a good point! Making it less of a "tribal" theme and maybe rather another angle to an existing aggro deck would probably be a good way to go about it.

    General Small archetype packages

I think it was someone else here go estimated that you needed 60 cyclers in a 360 cube to get the same as-fan as Ikoria? I didn't do this math myself, so I don't know, and probably you can get away with a slightly lower density of cyclers if you have fewer payoffs. The enablers are going to need...

    General Companions, Yay or nay?

Companions tend to lead to really repetitive and kind of oppressive games, because not only will villain always have an important card that's part of their game plan (.e.g. ramp and Girguamesh as companion) but you will have to stare down the bloody card the entire game leading up to them...

    General Small archetype packages

I feel like this could be better just based on the effect, getting flying 1/1s works both defensively and offensively in a way that draining 2 life doesn't.

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

I think the flexibility is what makes the card. It's a pretty solid common from what I can gather. Cycling is really good on cards like this, and is a nice way to attack stuff like enchantments and planeswalkers.

Sets [IKO] Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths

You know what? Didn't even occur to me that I could just show up to a standard tournament with a singleton deck haha, that would be kinda fun actually. Or Pioneer maybe! Since I have a bunch of cards from cube anyway.

Sets [IKO] Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths

Which is a shame because playing some brawl on arena made me realize how much I would like a singleton 1v1 60-card 20 health format (with no commander!). I don't really feel like I want to invest the time and money to get a constructed deck together, and singleton is a really nice way to play...

Sets [IKO] Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths

Hm, I think they're maybe experimenting with the overlap between commander and standard?

Honestly part of the phenomena isn't so much the +1 card in itself so much as the just absurd amount of consistency it gives a deck, right? If you play Gyruda you almost don't need any other ramp targets.

    Rasmus Super Retail Draft Cube

You're totally right! Totally forgot about that. Mana sinks could easily be considered even more fundamental for a really good draft format :D

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

I guess you play this in like really aggressive R/x decks right? And cash it in at like turn 5-6 once you're out of gas?
