Thanks guys! Both those decks look sweet. Rasmus, what kind of big spells would you be looking for for Mizzix's Mastery? I'm trying to find ways to make my spells more interesting than just "draw cards, deal damage, destroy target creature, etc."

    Card/Deck Artifact/Enchantment destruction

Now see, I do agree that having a relatively narrow power band is good for cubes and limited in general, but it's possible to have a narrow power band without every card in the cube intended for main deck play. Now, I don't run Disenchant or Naturalize because I think they're boring, but for...

    Card/Deck Artifact/Enchantment destruction

This is interesting to me, and I think it gets to the heart of the philosophical difference going on in this thread. See, I LOVE retail limited. It's my 2nd favorite way to play Magic (after Cube of course), and in some ways I think it's the purest way to play. I wonder how much of the divide...

Do you listen to much Limited Resources? It's of course focused on the competitive side of Magic rather than the development side, but learning to be competitive in deckbuilding and card evaluation skills is important to be a good designer. But Marshall Sutcliffe had a whole rant that he went on...

    Card/Deck The Rakdos Cult (BR)

Olivia, Mobilized for War Surprised to see so little love for this one. She does exactly what BR decks tend to want, which is generating value by pitching resources into the yard while beating face. Besides her I run Rakdos Cackler Daretti, Ingenious Iconoclast Falkenrath Aristocrat...

    Card/Deck Artifact/Enchantment destruction

Well, learning how to sideboard properly is a very valuable skill in retail drafting, and one that I find interesting. There's an interesting moment about halfway through packs 2 and 3 where your deck starts looking pretty fleshed out. Picking a strong but narrow sideboard card during those...

    General The Draft Exchange

Yep. That looks like one of the classic B/W aggro decks that usually does pretty well. There's a Xathrid Necromancer, a Pitiless Horde, and a Ranger of Eos in the sideboard as well. I feel like any of those would be better than the Raven's Crime, but maybe you value the disruption higher than I...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

Green is very much a control color in my cube. This has left me struggling with my Selesnya and Gruul sections because their traditional roles, little kid aggro and giant monster beats respectively, don't really fit with what I've been trying to do with the rest of the green section. So I've...

Oh man, there's a lot of cool threshold cards. Why haven't I looked in depth at this mechanic before? It's so spikey. I love it. Grizzly Fate Barbarian Ring Cabal Pit Centaur Garden Far Wanderings Kirtar's Wrath Krosan Restorer Lightning Surge Nimble Mongoose Putrid Imp Stitch Together Werebear

Hunting Grounds I've never seen this card before but it looks cool. Threshold can't be that hard to achieve in a cube with dredge and madness effects, right? The payoff seems pretty powerful.

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

I'm going to test it. It looks like a more manageable version of Assemble the Legion, and it combos with Loam and Ramunap Excavator.

    General Rethinking Color Mana Curve

Hmm, let me check my cubetutor stats. Woah, my average CMC excluding lands is 3.009, so I just naturally arrived there without doing anything special. So I guess that feels about right. White's average is 2.9, blue and green are tied at 3.2, black is on the money at 3, and red is like 2.5.

    General Fight Club

Yeah, but didn't we have a whole thread where we turned R/G into this cool control guild that does all these cool engine things? And now I'm vaguely dissatisfied with every R/G card that's not Stormbind and it's all your fault.

    General [CONTEST] Exploration Cube

Took a draft at this, 'cause why not. This is neat, but I'm worried that a deck with this many 1-drops isn't going to like how may of its lands ETB tapped. Also, I first picked Daretti and looked for ways to make him work the whole draft and didn't see any payoffs for him. I looked at the...

I just don't like Regisaur Alpha because it signals dinosaur synergies that probably aren't there. Also, Huntmaster of the Fells is roughly the same power level, does close to the same thing, and is about 1,000x cooler.

I think you're right that Ral Zarek is what I'm really looking for, but he's soooooo booooriiiing. I think I just gotta suck it up, though.

Okay. I'm still on the fence about this one. Let's say that blue-red tempo and counterburn type decks are common in the cube. Let's also say that Felidar Guardian is nowhere to be found. Fevered Visions vs. Saheeli Rai

    The Video Game Thread

It's extremely good. It basically rekindled my love for video games after Mass Effect: Andromeda nearly killed it. That said, the best game of the year is Nier: Automata. That's a 40 hour game that blew my mind on average about once every 90 minutes. The true ending credits (there's a ton of...
