    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

It's a little slow, but was pretty good in landfall decks.

The Penny Pincher Cube 2.0--Inventors' Fair

There might be a combo thread in the main forum. If you can't find one, create it. I'm a fan of discussing this.

The Penny Pincher Cube 2.0--Inventors' Fair

Spot on. And you are describing what I love about cube. When I first started playing, I was blown away by the depth. I think a lot of people are and why this format took off the way it did. "Layers" is a good word that captures it too. You start by seeing an interaction and it's sweet...

The Penny Pincher Cube 2.0--Inventors' Fair

I love that you are taking time to deconstruct some of this because it's useful for me to have another sounding board on it since it's what my combo exercise has really centered around. You are reaching most of the same conclusions I came to. Part of the power of tutors is the power level...

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

Yup. Ranger of Eos is sweet. One of the best uses I've found is in conjunction with Vengevine. You can build up your board with reckless abandon, hold Ranger and post wrath have an army back out in one turn.

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

I was not sold on the power of Lim-Dul's Vault until I played with it. Card is good. It's also time consuming and easy to misplay. Reminds me of sensei's diving top. Use it badly and you waste everyone's time. Despite how good it is, it's complicated and will go underdrafted if more casual...

I never noticed that either. Even after you posted the pictures, I was like "WTF is Grillo talking about... OMG THAT'S NOT A CLOAK".

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

Yeah, I've really warmed up to Trinket Mage. Clearly insane in a powered list, but there are tons of nice pickups in unpowered. Bonesplitter, Engineered Explosives, Chromatic Star, Everflowing Chalice to name a few. I feel like you can run mage in a deck with two targets and be OK, especially...

There's a cube blog section of the forum. That's where it should go. Definitely will read it.

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

Cursed Scroll is really strong in a low curve deck where you get to one card in hand. Magus of the Scroll is super vulnerable so offers considerably less late game inevitability which is the whole purpose behind scroll. I personally think Magus sucks.

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

I think they are fine together, but Grim Lavamancer has never struck me as broken. Exiling 2 cards is a lot and 2 damage is sweet but not absurd. Spikeshot Elder has the higher ceiling for sure. Lavamncer is more efficient and maybe red's best 1 drop in a vacuum but it can't really be a...

What are you doing specifically that differs from regular cubes? I'd like to look at your list. I'm always interested in hearing ways to reduce negative variance.

I understand the argument for respecting the color pie. If all colors can do all things, color becomes meaningless. But the truth is, each color is going to have strengths and weaknesses no matter how abusive you are with the color pie. Run every viable green removal spell that has ever been...

Wizards does lots of stupid shit though, so using what they do as a guide for how we should be designing cube seems like a bad idea to me. Anything that reduces the number of non-games of Magic is good. In pretty much every meta imaginable. Eternal Dragon infringing on green's wheelhouse...

The Penny Pincher Cube 2.0--Inventors' Fair

Death Cloud is an insane card. Nick West (https://mtgcube.blogspot.com) has raved about it numerous times in his posts and it was his insistence that encouraged me to try it. No power max cubers run this card and that's a shame. More cubes should try running it I feel and it's probably one...

Braids, Cabal Minion is very powerful. Smokestack needs more support to really be broken, but I think the tools exist for it to be very strong. Death Cloud is one of my favorite cards and the main reason to go heavy black IMO. It does everything. It armageddons, it wraths, it makes hands...

The Penny Pincher Cube 2.0--Inventors' Fair

Not insane at all. I think it's raw and honest. One of my favorite posts from you actually. I can identify with some of your struggles. I've spent literally hundreds of hours on my cube experiments, which while rooted in power max philosophy deviates enough to be very different in actual...

The Penny Pincher Cube 2.0--Inventors' Fair

Those changes look good to me. I'm happy to see you pushing the gy stuff so much. Your innistrad cube was sweet and I felt that angle wasn't as heavily represented in penny pincher 1.0 (not a bad thing, I just really like gy shenanigans). Really? But you are so good at it. Your lists are...

    Card/Deck Artifact/Enchantment destruction

I think Kor is the weakest of the three, but they are all very serviceable, and their stock climbs the more "must answer" artifact and enchantments you run. Forsake the Worldly has been great in testing and the only one I have no experience with in an actual draft. Cycling makes cards...
