    Sets Amonkhet (AKH) Spoilers

Man. I am SO HAPPY to be getting cycling back. Astral Slide reprint??? Or is that on the reserved list?

General Oh god it's my two least favorite topics in magic

I think the millennials end up an easy target for ridicule. Just like every young generation is in the eyes of older people. I had my head fully up my ass through my early 30's, so to think that generation (whose oldest member turns 35 this year) is prepared to take over and fix 30+ years of...

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

3 is probably one too many for that type of discard. You can get the same effect in Castigate for 2 (albeit two colors). And for 3 you can get a 2 for 1 (with one being random) in Stupor. Neither of those makes most rare lists either. So Night Terrors feels pretty low power to me.

Hard not to chime in again on all this.

    General Dual Land Cycles

I love Idiocracy. Such a funny movie. Good idea on Fastlands for red. That really fits well there (though it's playing a bit more into the cliche "red is aggro" thing - still where there's smoke there's fire I suppose).

    General Dual Land Cycles

Yeah. Horizon Canopy is a powerful card and probably one of the stronger arguments for having a mix/match dual land philosophy. I'm uncertain about which cycles belong where. Thanks for laying them out visually. TBH, the only one that seems really logical to me is creature lands. I know they...

General Oh god it's my two least favorite topics in magic

LOL. I've started and stopped on many projects. I need a solid business person to work with that enjoys that side of it. I tend to get to a place with something where I'm faced with copyright issues or other things of that nature which add complications I don't want to deal with. I'll be...

Risk adverse is the main reason. I make a lot and there are perks to corporate slavery. Very hard to give that up and try and do something else that may or may not succeed. I can retire in 13 years for sure doing what I'm doing, and the freedom that offers is very enticing to me.

    General Dual Land Cycles

So wanted to toss out an idea I don't think I've seen anywhere. Might be a bad idea but seems sort of interesting. OK, so how many dual land cycles are there now? like 10? More than we can fit in cube anyway. That's all I know. This is especially problematic for smaller cubes. My 360...

General Oh god it's my two least favorite topics in magic

I work in corporate. It sucks the life out of you. Not sure how this company is structured, but if people are just being given a paycheck to make Magic cards and how well they do that is largely immaterial (as is the case at 95% of corporate positions), a lot of what has been happening is not...

The only walkers I've ever hesitated on running are the flip walkers. And that's only recently since I've decided to try running DFC. I still vehemently dislike the physical card design, but I really like the mechanic and flavor (talking DFC). It's like morph but a lot less janky and way more...

I feel obligated to reply. Read the article and - unsurprisingly - quite enjoyed it. Thanks for posting. Predictably perhaps... I'm reminded how great Cube is as a format because I can continue to pretend the card type simply does not exist regardless of how hard Wizard's pushes them and...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

Overrun is sweet. Green needs stuff like this. And it costs GGG, so you can't just splash it willy-nilly. I dropped it along with most everyone during the cube power arms race and have been happy since adding it back. Card is dangerous. It's a classic green effect. And it makes it...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

Truth is, morph is probably a terrible idea. Wizards has printed 194 morph cards based on a quick gatherer check. How many of those end up in cubes? I've seen a lot of people force otherwise unplayable cards just to try and get a reasonable count of morphs, but they are just not very good...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

I want more from morph personally. The element of surprise isn't enough. I want to be able to play it as a morph and use it for something besides a lightning rod. Both a Goblin Piker and a Lumengrid Warden suck as cube cards. They aren't worth a slot in your deck. So morph should be a "perk"...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

I'd like to see something modular. Like you can choose to make a 2/1 for 2 or a 1/3 for 2. Both reasonable bodies for the cost and they appeal to aggressive/control strategies respectively.

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

I agree. Den Protector is the best of the mega morphs. Morph is a clunky mechanic in general. Stratus Dancer for me was a marginally improved WillBender with a lower ceiling but higher base value since the body is better. It was fine but nothing I was excited to run.

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

I disliked it personally. But I'm not a huge morph fan (outside Exalted Angel). A 3/2 lifelink for 3WW that might kill something is pretty bad. A likelinking goblin piker for 1W is also pretty bad. Morphing and having it die is a lot of tempo loss. Even when it kills a big thing, you are...
