    Eldrazi Domain Cube

Birthing is definitely worse than Breath, but that's the point, it will go around late to the ramp drafter, whereas removal spells like Breath will be snatched up by anyone. Unfortunately, the limited number of spawn generators around means the options aren't that flexible - maybe something...

    Eldrazi Domain Cube

Regarding demand for morbid making spawn generators high picks and inaccessible to ramp: upping the # of Growth Spasms gives the ramp decks a spawn generator that aggro/midrange won't want. There's also always Brood Birthing if you want a consistent wheel for the all in spawn deck.

Site News Riptide Lab Road Map

Your first priority should be to record another episode of Joy of Cubing so I have something to listen to on the drive to work! (On topic, the direction for reorganizing makes much sense.)

Another mechanic that I've identified as a good fit for my custom set that has emphases on counters, tokens, and "dies" triggers - Devour! Seems like it checks your boxes as well.

    Eldrazi Domain Cube

As far as using counters and dying, Fading/Vanishing checks both boxes pretty well.

    Eldrazi Domain Cube

Just joined the forum and read around today. I've been brainstorming a custom limited environment of my own lately, and I found it funny (and certainly not a coincidence) that we came to the same conclusion on Eldrazi Spawn. Being numerous, adding mana, and giving on-demand access to a "dies"...

    Eric Chan's Modern cube (405)

The discussion has moved away from the original post, but I wanted to address the thought of reducing powerful, cheap removal like Path, Doom Blade, etc. I've had the same inclination with my cube, I believe too much cheap removal makes drafting the "5 color kill spells and good stuff" deck too...
