    FlowerSunRain's Cube

Shamans could work, I'm running an errataed Rage Forger right now and like it a lot. Lots of vampires are shamans and green has good ones too. I think when we were brainstorming goblins before we sort of wrote them off as being too linear/reliant on critical mass. That was probably the right...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

As a rule I don't like cards that are overcosted-color shifted effects. Unless you think returning to play tapped is worth a whole extra mana (or Journey to Nowhere is undercosted by a whole mana).

General Where did you start with cube?

Cube is a logical extension of limited Magic. I first noticed it in December 1998. I have been exploring casually since then. I had met a couple of other groups that had also discovered cube over they years, but my contact was primarily insular. In 2011 I discovered that the format had become...

    FlowerSunRain's Cube

When I think of cards that need to be better, Bitterblossom doesn't leap to mind. I'm pretty sure this is a dead end. Goblins mainly have death triggers, which doesn't work well with Mistbound Clique, Faerie Imposter, etc. I don't think there is overlap to make this work elegantly.

    FlowerSunRain's Cube

The faerie incentive cards mostly blow. You've got Peppersmoke, Mistbind Clique, Spellstutter Sprite and Scion of Oona. Marsh Flitter has ultra synergy here, but that moves it out of being an izzet incentive. I guess that firmly puts the them into grixis. If you lean on the goblin...

    FlowerSunRain's Cube

Goblin Faeries sound fing amazing. I'm going to look over the incentive cards and see if its tenable.

    FlowerSunRain's Cube

I don't have a particular wording. My players are spirit of the rule kinda of players, they understand the intention and don't question the technicalities. I haven't made a decision on elvish vanguard, but I completely missed the fact that opponents trigger it. Wolf/Beast seems fun, but I'm...

    General Revisiting "Squadroning"

Diaknov: I know I saw your Bogbrew Witch Squadron, but the idea never really clicked with me until now. How is that working out? It seems like a hilarious "Black Sac Outlet", but it also seems like it takes up too much deck space.

    General Making Aggro more inclusive

Pridemate/Pridemate/Archangel/Path of Bravery is definitely the core of the incentive package. I'd really like one more card here, though, possibly two (one black, one green?). Ageless Entity isn't the card we want. I like Thrull Parasite and it has a solid place in my cube. It pumps...

    FlowerSunRain's Cube

I like the elvish vanguard suggestion! That card is 3 dollars? I'm becoming increasingly convinced that the Ajani Steadfast switch is the right one.

    General Making Aggro more inclusive

While I do support lifegain in general, there really needs to be one more support card. Pridemate, Archangel and Reaver are good (and Sanguine Bond isn't the worst if you want to go deeper), but it seems that there should be a slightly better curve. Stuff like Angelic Accord doesn't work due...

    FlowerSunRain's Cube

Me and my dad were cubing. I mentioned I was using Zombie/Vampire transparency. He said I should try doing the same with humans and elves. If I did that, I could add Imperious Prefect and Priest of Titania. Any other good cards that would work with it (other then the "big 3" humans I...

    General Revisiting "Squadroning"

I pulled the trigger on squadroned Grim Guardian and Pridemate, but held off on Reverent Hunter and Young Pyromancer. I also dropped squadroning on 3 "no frills" one drops as usually people are keeping a couple of one drops in the sideboard anyway. We'll see the effect on this soon. I think...

Sets [KTK] Khans of Tarkir Spoilers

Unless a game specifically has negotiation as a mechanic, I really hate when people use negotiation in a game. Negotiation is basically a means to avoid interacting with the language of the game: the creation of incentive structures, emergent alliances and mastery of the mechanics all get thrown...

    Sets [C14] Commander 2014 Spoilers

I put those games together because they are all games that I've seen get an eyeroll of utter disdain, so in that way they belong together. Its not necessarily a comment on their absolute quality, but rather their level popularity when compared to their relative quality. To out myself as an...

General Jitte and assorted GRBS, P1P1, etc.

I know this is a for fun question, but I'm going to be a party pooper and say what I've said before: You don't build a cube subtractively! You carefully select the cards you want, not take a huge pile of cards and eliminate the ones you don't want. Also I pick Pristine Angel, Visara and...

    Sets [C14] Commander 2014 Spoilers

Board game nerds often resent Monopoly/Catan/Ticket to Ride/Munchkin etc because when other people hear they like board games these are the games they bring up. They're popular, but not particularly great and likely not what a board game geek wants to be the poster image of their hobby. Nor is...

    Sets [C14] Commander 2014 Spoilers

With some fine tuning I think you could get that thing to lose you the game by turn 2 well over 99% of the time. But, you know, that would require thinking about it more which ruins the point.

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

I'm going to type "yes" here. I'm not going to explain or clarify it. I think "yes" stands on its own.

    General Removing Green From Cube

I think you can create variable player power games where it isn't true, but I also think the difficulty in doing so is directly proportional to the range of pregame options. Cubes by their very nature have massive amounts of them, so I don't thinks its going to happen. And even if there...
