Erik's "The cool side of Magic" cube

Ah, no worries. So far what I do is copy the decklist in TappedOut, load the blink deck on a different window and then play them against each other. It's a bit annoying but hey, it works!

By the way, I've decided to cut Falkenrath Aristocrat. It's extremely strong. If it were either indestructible or had haste, it would be fine, but both in tandem makes it very hard to deal with. Bounce doesn't work, burn doesn't work, traditional removal doesn't work...Only exile effects do and...

Erik's "The cool side of Magic" cube

All right, let's work on this again. After thinking about it, I think the way to go with white in my cube is to make it a better support color. There are already a few white-centered archetypes so it seems a good step. Still, I would want to deepen de colour with an additional archetype. Glass...

Yeah, I think it's going to be unplayable in Cube. In my experience, Grim Tutor is hard to use at 1BB and this one is harder to crack.

While similar, the Magus works very differently because you can recur him. I like that aspect of the card and I think it's key to making it playable but you might feel differently.

I did use it and I think it's pretty bad. There are a lot of issues that aren't apparent at first glance. 1) This is a very mana-intensive format. You have more spells than usual thanks to the Adventure mechanic. Spending two mana and then one mana to active is more of a tempo loss than it...

I just won 7-1 on Arena with a food-based deck. It took me a while to build it, but the goal is simple: Get Trail of Crumbs in play, start sacrificing food to draw 2 cards and gain 3 life a turn. And then you win because your opponent can't face the card advantage. After a couple games I added...

My experience in Sealed so far has been dull. My matches have been decided by mythics, colour screw and not having enough removal. Either by me or my opponents, mind you. Games go long and cards are worth slighty more than they do in a normal set so I'm sure it's heavily tainted by my...

Ultimately, Wizards is working with a 25 year-old game that was the first of its kind. There are a lot of flaws and design issues that aren't done away with because they would require a schism, would go against audience expectation's or would affect older cards. After all, Wizards could fold...

    General The Draft Exchange

Wow, add a couple counterspells and you have the perfect Upheaval deck! It does seem very strong, even if the win conditioni s wonky. Upheaval is kind of a test re-addition. It's stronger and easier to build than Wildfire so it might get cut again. That said, I don't think it's off when it comes...

    General The Draft Exchange

I got a couple picks for WR and decided to draft aggro. I had trouble getting 2-drops and considered pivoting into UR but I didn't find any particular reason to get into it other than "it's open". I would have splashed blue for a couple cards but I only had one WR dual so I didn't see myself...

I just think Balance is not that hard to abuse and a 2-mana card that ranges from a bad Smallpox to one-sided Wrath, Armaggedon and Mind Twist is not something I like very much. If the card were more expensive, say, four mana it might be an interesting build-around. I would rather run Cataclysm...

I doubt anyone involved with Cube Cobra is launching DDoS attacks. Magic's community is extremely toxic and many hold a grudge against Cubetutor for the Patron/lack of updates fiasco.

I'm afraid it isn't. Even at its most fair Skullclamp can make repeateble trades a 3 for 1. It's very easy to use and will turn any mana dork, utility creature and token into a Divination. I like Standstill. It's a skill-testing card that requires some build-around and boosts non-control...

    General Fight Club

I think Bishop is significantly better than Mentor of the Meek, both in power level and for cube. The difference is larger than it appears because Mentor of the Meek is surprisingly weak. 1) Being a 2/2, Mentor won't be able to attack very often. It can do it in a pinch, but those situations...

Erik's "The cool side of Magic" cube

Who hasn't? ;) Nah, I do like what White offers. I'm just a bit uninspired and busy with writing. I mean, white is already supporting blink, artifact aggro, aristocrats, hatebears and control. That's great! Could it be better? Sure, but my frustration mostly comes from not being able to fill...

Erik's "The cool side of Magic" cube

I couldn't sleep tonight and I ended up discovering a treasure trove of information: The MTGS Extended archives. Man, what a format. Aggro-Loam, Kiki-Jikki Oppossition, Madness, Balancing Act, Mind's Desire combo, Cephalid Breakfast, Gifts Rock...Looking back, I don't think it's notalgia, it was...

I'm sure Wizards, being the company who makes D&D, has banned any and all Monty Python references in their own work under penalty of death.

Magic's frames are very old-fashioned in that there are several borders. There's the black (or white, or silver) border around the edge and then another border around the picture and the text box. Compare with the cards in a typical FFG game, which use no outer frames, minor inner frames and...

I really dislike that card. There's no play or trick to it. If you have removal, you must use it on her. If you don't, you lose. I would rather run Noxious Gearhulk, as strong as he is, because it's a one-time thing and not a constant ever-increasing advantage.
