Snecko Eye is a flat 2 per turn. Pocket Watch is 3 per turn (after the first) in certain decks.

A bit of a weird Spire run today. My boss reward screens really scraped the bottom of the barrel, in terms of Watcher card quality. I took a speculative Master Reality (whenever you create a card during combat, upgrade it), and got rewarded with a Dead Branch (whenever you exhaust a card, create...

Ah, good catch. Thanks! I've been playing the Windows version of the game, and as far as I can tell it doesn't have access to the beta branch. The recent beta changes gave some nice buffs the other three classes, so for the moment I've just been playing Watcher as it's the only one 'up to date'.

I am taking Tuesdays off to take care of our son Klaus, so I did some streaming during his naps. Which meant a single run had to be split up into several segments. Floors 0 - 30: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/879581930 Floors 30-33: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/879628300 Floors 33-48...

I hadn't played Slay the Spire in a while, but was feeling inspired by recent Jorbs streams. I tried streaming a bit of it yesterday, but I had to play in pockets while the baby was asleep. The setup is pretty awful (no webcam, laptop mic), but the deck was nice. Midway through Act 2 I hit a...

James is interested in cubing again, and I imagine we all go through phases where our interest in cubes waxes or wanes. I deem the waxing phase 'cuberty'.

Flinthoof Boar is one of the strongest (if uninspiring) aggro cards you can run. I'd say it's even deceptively strong. The ability for a card to be either a 2-drop or a 3-drop massively improves the consistency of an aggro deck's output.

    General Tribes in a Can

I think the prevalence of a given tribe in your cube can impact your card selection. If your cube already incidentally has 50 humans (that are good without the creature type mattering), you could toss in a couple humans-matter anchors without making the whole setup parasitic.

    Jason Waddell's Cube

Hey, good questions. Yeah, Bonfire turned out to be too powerful, it's kind of a feel-bad blowout without much the opponent can do about it. Pestermite isn't bad, I tend to really like flying 3-drops as my beaters in Ux tempo decks. Even just tapping an opposing permanent can provide a key...

Oh man, how many years has it been since they printed snow cards? I remember having some fun with that red burn snow-card in pauper once upon a time.

Any of you guys play Gloomhaven? I got a gift card to a local game shop and picked up Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion. It seems pretty mechanically sound, and the box has a much smaller footprint than the original. Each turn is an engaging little puzzle, and this version has a wonderful tutorial...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

I never liked Token spam, especially repeatable token spam. This card isn't the strongest, but in my experience it never created interesting board state.

Thanks for the well wishes everybody! In another 10 years or so I can start cranking out some child-approved drafting formats!

General Casual Format: Wife Pleaser (Working Title)

I hope your whole family is doing well now. My family is on another continent and wouldn't have been visiting right after the birth anyways, but we'll see how the days after we get home go. Technically we're supposed to keep to a bubble of our household plus 5 people, which will fill up quickly.

Thanks! We'll have a cozy few days at the hospital since no visitors are allowed. Reportedly the change has been great for parents and babies alike.

General Casual Format: Wife Pleaser (Working Title)

My 39-week pregnant wife brought home some packs for Pack Wars over the weekend. She likes Magic but hates deckbuilding, so most of the formats I've invented are ill-suited for her taste. When we play Pack Wars, I tend to fiddle with the mana base to smooth things out a bit. I wanted to make a...

General Budget MTGO Cube Draft Online

I'll weigh in here because I think it's an interesting topic and Nemo makes a nice proposal for how to run a cube. $10 or so could give you an all-access pass to cube drafting online, and if there were a standardized list that was pushed around, I could see it getting some critical mass...
