    General Making Blue Do Things

Mana Vortex is a legit beating and my vote for the best of the bunch, though Parallax Tide is awfully unique.

    General Making Blue Do Things

I played Mana Breach and it was pretty much useless, but my cube has changed a lot so maybe its good now?

Trust me, you will not be disappointed by the Promise. Wrath protection, aggro mirror crushing, sacrifice abusing, its great.

    General Making Blue Do Things

If you believe Mistral Charger is a non-bad card, Carnivorous Death-Parrot is slightly more non-bad. I also like Sindbad and Merfolk Looter, although those are less creatures and more enchantments you can bolt. Blue's role in my cube is generating cards, either in the graveyard, filtering or...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

I've been running Promise for years. It has always been good. Lingering Souls has sort of taken some of the luster off of it, but its a lot of bodies for very little mana.

Lightning Storm was not a good card. Yes, you can throw extra lands into it as a oneshot stormbind with value, but the opponent's ability to bounce it can be really devastating when you just need to bolt something and you don't have/can't afford to chuck a land into it. It certainly gets a...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

Not exactly going with borderline cards here are we? Dark Confidant is sweet, the lifeloss is extremely relevant and it always makes games exciting. Pernicious Deed is a little slow (except against tokens of course!), but its a conditional sweeper that has been fun to plan around and doesn't...

General Auras: Do they all suck?

Blue really does hit auras the hardest. In my cube, blue has some issues as I run exactly zero colorless mana sources and saddle the color with aggro cards, making blue's usual schtick of "I'm the control color!" a lot more dicey and needs to be able to delay while it makes land drops, but I am...

General Auras: Do they all suck?

By next week my cube adjustments should be done and I'll be playing it heavily until New Years (VACATION BITCHES!!!), so I'll be able to give you good feedback on how the aura heavy strategies worked or didn't work and what direction it might need to go.

General Auras: Do they all suck?

You need to have decks that can utilize them and your removal suite needs to respect them. What helps? Conditional/Sorcery speed removal. I don't run Bolt, Plow, Path, Snuff Out, Dismember, Doomblade. I do run Hero's Downfall, Tragic Slip, Oust, Flameslash, Prison Term. There is still...

    FlowerSunRain's Cube

In a recent development, CML declared that he would have a hard time imagining a cube whose power level is low enough to run Ordeal of Heliod. Is this statement of opinion true in spirit? Is my cube's power level low enough to run this card? If not, in order to run this card would I need...

    Card/Deck Opalescence and Gods

This is possibly the wrong place to ask this question and if I were to delve into the depths of the internet it may already be answered, but does anyone know exactly how Opalescence interacts with the Theros God cards? If devotion to white is <5, Heliod with Opalescence on the table is a 4/4...

General Life Gain as a Thing

I'm working in the voltron/heroic/enchantment theme slowly so I'm not 100% sure how it'll be, but thus far Ordeal of Thassa was definitely the best enabler in a couple of the white/blue heroic decks I've played. Ordeal of Heliod did not come up in the two drafts I played since adding it, so I...

Oubliette is cool until you realize their is a 1 in their. Then its kinda awful. Even the power of devotion can't sell me on this one.

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

As I said in another thread, this card is ridiculously hard to evaluate, but I've come around on it and actually think Erebos is legit so long as your black section has a high density of creatures, cards that recur creatures and enchantments. Some lifegain also helps.

General Life Gain as a Thing

That has been the focus of my approach to this theme.

General Life Gain as a Thing

When I was first messing around with this, I tried Divinity of Pride and it "just" a nerfed baneslayer that was impossible for most decks to cast. I swapped it out for Obzedat and was nothing but impressed and also ashamed that it took me the better part of a year to understand that this card...

Card/Deck Tezzeret (either one) and making them work in cube

If the villian in a game is anything but my opponent or myself, then the game is getting in the way of its purpose.

Site News Design Contest Voting and Debate

I found the argument and implications for Green's Sun Zenith very persuasive. The card is just extremely interesting. It gives life to fun cards that can be difficult to play otherwise. It lends flexibility rather then raw power. It creates interesting choices in play and in the draft. It...
