Sets (LTR) The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle Earth

The one that's, err, "standard borderless" -- not the one that's part of the scene. 0341! Also, liking the new spoilers from today: Moria Maurader This is the right way to do tribal! I'm a fan, even with the double red in the mana cost, because the upside is pretty incredible here. Lizard...

Sets (LTR) The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle Earth

I've never needed ten copies of a card before seeing the borderless art version of Minas Tirith. This set is sweet so far, and I'm similarly going to be sticking to borderless where able but I'm finding I hate the frame less than I anticipated. The basics are wonderful too, these are all...

General (MOM) March of the Machines Testing/Includes Thread!

I just picked up an Invasion of Tarkir after seeing it in action a few times, super neat card. But yeah, the fact that there's no more battles for the next year or two is an actual strike against them. I haven't found them as fiddly as others (certainly they're no Day/Night) but it's a...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

Standard Procedure Standard Procedure just got a lot better  (I love this card, btw. It's not very friendly to the environment I'm trying to support in general, but the creativity available is TotK-tier and is worth the complication it provides)

Sure, but Sun Titan is equally oppressive on the composition of cubes. It's run more than the next 10 white six-drops combined according to Cube Cobra (I've got an article coming out eventually about it).

General (MOM) March of the Machines Testing/Includes Thread!

Haven't been able to cube this year since I moved to a new country and haven't been able to have enough time to both meet a critical mass of new Magic players here who I'm comfortable bringing into my home with my children AND having a free day to host (I'm pretty close though, the second thing...

    Cardboard by the Numbers

Ranking the Showcase Treatments – with Math! I made a formula combining survey data (thanks all who contributed here) and sales data I scraped from 4 major sites to figure out which of the 16 planar showcase styles in MOM/Aftermath were objectively the best.

    Cardboard by the Numbers

Have gotten bad about posting weekly (oops I have two 90% finished articles as well) and just realized I've missed a few here, but hey, I wrote a bit about the basic lands of the PT this week! What Everyone Missed at Pro Tour: March of the Machine Images are too large to upload for this one...

    General Favorite Playest Cards?

New playtest cards! Some funny cards, some not well-tuned, but a delight all-in-all. I desperately wish they had the slap-dash artwork of previous editions, but I guess they're being treated as exclusive to Magic Fests, which are dramatically less frequent than the events that had Mystery...

yes, incredibly. I can't wait to actually be able to grind this on arena

Sets (LTR) The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle Earth

I really do see all sides of this, but my aversion here is not the complexity creep itself, but the relative value in exchange for complexity. At a cube of my size, what's the best-case scenario here? Maybe 20 cards that directly acknowledge the ring, if the set's power level does somehow end up...

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

The most-cubed creatures that fit this category do not represent enough density in terms of cards I'd be happy to play with at this time...but I am desperate for that to change over time, and would dearly love to play Kenessos. I'd love more "cheap" creatures (on a MV basis) that suit the...

Sets (LTR) The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle Earth

In all honesty, as much as it peeves me, this is a good defense. And the follow up: Look, there are few franchises I care about more than Magic. But the world of Middle Earth is one of them. And yet, I find myself agreeing with Mark. I understand the need to compromise here - this is modern...

General (MAT) March of the Machine Aftermath Previews

A couple notes now that we have everything: Please WotC, PLEASE stop doing extended art treatments. Leave this to fan artists. It's so obvious that you're getting a cropped piece of work on the standard version of the card and it's not good! Why are you having the standard version of your cards...

I love all the takeaways, thanks for that analysis @TrainmasterGT!! Can't help but love any episode of Lucky Paper that @landofMordor is on. Was very appreciative for the ardent defense of Battles, a card type I don't really care for in concept but adore in execution. I'm finding March of the...

I kept this in my cube for years without it ever being run maindeck, I just couldn't imagine why people didn't like it. I still don't :wagg:

    General Fight Club

I've seen midrange decks run Emry just to "draw cards" off her mill ability and get back Wurmcoils, I think she's just a stellar card in a ton of strategies, and costs you very little even if she is quite easy to react to.
